Lots of mods, stock clutch...anyone have problems?
Its time to put a clutch in my 951. I'll be getting the fidanza light flywheel and not sure on the clutch yet.
Do any of you with a significant amount of modifications to the engine and a stock or oem clutch have any problems with it?

I have the same as you but just a cam and a little head work. My stock clutch is spinning against my Fidanza with new 275 street tires at only 15 psi. I am getting a kep and 935 disk.

Mine is slipping. I am expecting to be shelling out for a new one soo. Prob go Fidanza and Spec stage 2-3. This thing is a too agressive clutch is pointless in some cases on these cars as you need to ride it a little off the line.

When istalling the Fidenza flywheel, be extremely careful
when setting the height of the sensor screw. I had mine
set back to back against the original flywheel. I doudle
check before & after install. I even hand crank the engine
before start up to makesure everything is O.K. Guess what,
upon starting the engine, I heard a unusual sound coming
from the bell housing. Took a look & saw some metal filings.
Can't understand it but it seem that the sensor screw was
scrapping into part of the bell housing. So watch for this.
Regarding clutch, stay away from the Spec stage III units
if anyone contemplating to buy this unit. I'm having some
drivability problems which has yet to be resolve.

Ya I usually ride it a little off line as well because if I apply very light throttle the car will stumble and the rpm's will drop, so I have to bring the rpms up enough where I can let off the clutch without getting that stumble. No clue what the problem is though. Maybee vacuum leak?

The problem with mine is that when cold
you can ride the clutch but when hot when
you try to ride the clutch the whole engine
& transmission jerks so much as if you riding
in a rodeo. I was advice to do a few 2nd gear
launch to bed in the clutch. Lets see if that
helps.
BTW v944god, how did you run in your clutch ?

As in beating it up? I've dropped it at 5k rpms before, smokes all through 1st, 2nd, and maybee third if I tried, but I usually stop after second. Feather out the clutch at 5k, punch it until it redlines, switch gears fast enough to keep the momentum going, and thats pretty much it. No lsd.
But like J chen, usually when my car is cold I get stumbles, not as bad when its warm. And I get alot of the tranny jerk as well. Gearbox shakes when I'm in the higher rpms, especially in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. I ride the clutch only when I get a stumble. I usually try to let off the clutch as smooth and as low in the rpm range as possible, but that doesn't happen all the time.

Hi V944god,
Seems to me like running the Spec stage III set is a bad
choice in our cars. Maybe a stage II would be better.
I have to kill the guy who sold this to me cause he told
me that besides stiffer paddle pressure it's still had smooth
engagement.
