Default Seats Opinion

My front leather seats were worn, so i replaced them with cloth seat. Now, i want to install FULL leather seats for the front ONLY.

I found a guys here locally who quoted me AED2,000 ($550) for NEW leather seats.

He cliamed that he would make them look like they came from the factory.

Is this a good/high price? should i just stick with a leather seat repair from rennbay ($350) and do it myself?

Some P-Car vendors charge over $750 USD per seat for factory seat "skins". This is a benchmark that may help you decide.

I am getting two front seats in leather taken from a wrecked 951S for $650 CDN for both. These seats are in great shape.

Some vendors charge $150 CDN per panel to repair seats back to factory.

YMMV

If the work and materials are good, that's a killer price for a full leather set. Bolsters on both seats in leather will cost you that much or more out here. I think I'd want to see some of his work before I committed though, no matter who's doing the work.

Well ... you will have to get the three sided coin and flip it three times to come up with the correct answer.

I didn't see his work, but he was busy working on BMW's and Merc's. I showed him a picture of what the 944 seats should look like, he said he can do the same for that price.

Looking at Rennbay's seats, those are the factory seats right?

The rennbay reupholstery kit is not full leather like you want. It's a vinyl recovering kit that you have to put on yourself. If you can get someone to put new leather on your seats for 550, it's a steal. I was quoted $850 for a pair of seats recovered in "high quality vinyl", and that didn't include the core charge for my old seats.

If they do a nice job with installation then go with the $550. I can't even make nice leather cover sets for that price, much less sell them and make anything on them. Make sure you see a sample of the material first before you decide.

I saw the samples, they match the OEM rear leather seats. They also look great, the sample that is.

Pete had rennbay seat covers on his white NA 944 at the 03 fest. I was pretty impressed by the quality, the seats appeared to be brand new. I remember asking him if had mortgaged the house to get those seats, and he said "nah man those are rennbay covers."
