Thumbs up GTech PRO results post

OK, for everyone who jumped in on the GTech PRO deal from that eBay vendor... post your opinions/likes/dislikes of the GTech on here as well as any performance data you have obtained.

So far, my best result (and consistent) was 232hp. Now, in the manual, they claim that this is "actual" power with no variables factored in for friction loss and/or aerodynamic loss. The standard geartrain friction loss is said to be ~15%. So to get your GTech obtained power numbers, divide the hp number by 0.85

232/0.85= 270+hp

Thats about 5-10 more then I had hoped for, so I'm happy.... now to only get it verified by a dyno...

What do they mean by "actual" power?

uh... kevin,
- AutoThority Stage II chips
- Lindsey Racing Boost Enhancer
- G-Force Motorsports conical air filter
- headers heat wrapped
- custom intake heat shield
shouldn't put you at 270 RWHP...

Eyal: Not really, claims of 240~250 with JUST the chips. Depends how much boost he is running. Also, Danno claims 260~270 with his 15psi chips on 88+ turbo S models.

These things are great, the eBay price was around $50.
Of course, I jumped on it, and have tested the 0-60 so far, I managed to get high 4's (on 5 run average).
I haven't tested the hp yet, because you need to enter vehcile weight, so I'm going to head down to a truck weigh station when I have time, and get the actual numbers.

Kevin, how much did you tell it the car weighed?

well, in that case, possible, but how do you lose 50 HP? when i dynoed my car stock (aside from an LBE) i dynoed 195 RWHP and 219 RWtq... thats 22 hp loss, not anywhere near 50 loss.

eyal the more hp you have the larger the gap between. 15% drivetrain loss is normall for our car's.

poormans9fitty1: These performance meters read or display RWHP not crank.

Eyal: For a stock hitting 190, that is acceptable since 11~15% is lost to the drive train

So if FSAEracer03 see's 232 on the G meter, that is rear wheel power.

I would say with fluids and you in the car, 3000-3100lb. Although this has been a huge debate.

Kevin,

Kevin Gross (long-time mailing list contributor and creator of the 944 FAQ)once measured drivetrain loss by dynoing an engine out of the car then w/ it back in. He found 12% was the loss. 15% tends to be an industry standard.

Have you dyno'ed any engines to verify the 15%? Just curious.

0-60 in low 4's sounds in correct.

if the accellerometer is not mounted tight as a rock or if you have a big squat on acceleration, they will lie. mine rocked once and gave me 3.75 sec.

whenever i go to a dyno, i will check mine for accuracy

mine however DOES take into account areodynamic drag. you plug a coefficient in for that number.
