Roof removed - wind buffeting

Has anyone come up with a solution to the severe wind buffeting with the roof removed? The power rear windows on the BMW 3 series coupe were a great solution to this issue so the air had somewhere to vent out. I remember reading years ago the corvette guys had the same issue with the rear opening glass. I think someone came up with a spacer/lock that kept the hatch spaced open just a hair so the incoming air had somewhere to go.
Anyone done the same for the 944?

the original wind deflector does a great job of this - you just have to adjust its angle a bit based on the speed you are going.
but i have taken my car past 80 with the roof off and it does not have the buffeting.

Interesting, maybe that’s why I haven’t found any other people complaining about it. This was one of the primary reasons I sold my 944 20 years ago. It actually hurt your ears to go over 40MPH with the roof out.
Maybe I never had the deflector in the right position?
thanks, now I know more now with this one.

It's 100% fine with the factory deflector - just the hinges are garbage and break. One year out long ago on my way to 944 Fest my 951 hit rev limiter in 4th and a little bit of 5th with the roof off and all was good.

Damn, I’m not sure if I would have kept it all these years but the one I sold (primarily for this reason) was museum quality with 26k miles. I sold it for $12,500 which was a good price then

Wind buffeting and the booming it causes result from irregular airflow across the open roof, as the air flow will oscillate like a flag in the breeze. This will vary according to speed, other traffic, crosswind direction, size of the opening, and car shape. If correctly designed, a flip-up castellated deflector will prevent this, as seen on many modern cars like BMW, etc. Replicate that castellted deflector and your problems will be solved...
