Any other recommendations while this is being done? Ive already looked into the Lindsey racing vent. What else should be done to ensure a reliable engine besides replacing worn components? It will only get an exhaust system, Vitesse chip and 3 bar FPR. Dont plan on doing more performance mods. Looking for a reliable 300 HP.
Make sure its the head gasket because the oil cooler seals on these cars produce the same milkshake in oil affect.

Apparently it wasn't the oil cooler. I want to buy a set of 17x9 and 17x8 Euromeister fuchs style wheels for it. Does anyone know the correct offset for 86 early offset cars for Euromeister wheels? Other option im considering are these but I don't know where I can find a set with these same offsets. The first are Euromeister, the second are speedline I think...

Following the thread with interest.

I wonder/hope that Larry will make a video about cleaning/restoring this paint (or trying to... it would be great to have content of him working on a 944 Turbo out there). When does it go to him?

I spoke to Larry, were going to try a product called Dincmax to remove the damaged clearcoat and reclear the paint leaving only the nose panel and the euro bumper to be painted. If that doesnt work the car will get a full repaint. Some people have said good things about dincmax. I bought some on eBay.

The car is now put together and has new tires. It was taken for test drives. Its getting new coil and cables and the suspension components are being checked to see if there are any that need replacing. Other than that its good.

The car got the only944 short shifter installed, new motor mounts, stainless brake lines, solid state pump/prime relay and burgundy shifter boot installed.

Didn't look through the entire thread. But is it even possible to restore this one? How about spare parts?

Had the cooler seals fail on my son's 86 NA. Coolant ended up in the oil pan and when I pulled the dipstick the oil looked like coffee with way too much creamer in it. Just some oil residue in the expansion tank, not the full milkshake.

This is a great find and glad it's being saved. I've only seen a Pearl White 944T once several years ago. That one had matching Pearl White centers on it's Fuchs.

Yes, its all ready to drive and road worthy, The next step will be the cosmetics. Interior will get detailed and probably going to get it dry ice cleaned underneath. The paint will be the last. We will see if we can recoup the original paint as much as posible if not it will get a full repaint. As far as cost without the paint, after doing the engine reseal, motor mounts and all the other upgrades including purchasing the car its still a sub 20k build. The paint would take it over depending on the level. Over all not to bad to get a well sorted 944T with 69k miles, special paint and reliability upgrades. Ready to enjoy for the summer!

Plus, I get pleasure in fixing these cars up, especially with the pearl white paint, I think it looks really cool. I can see the car rolling on the streets of New york all shiny and ceramic coated with the euromeister wheels, euro bumper, new tail lights, clear side corners, and clean burgundy interior... with the top off on a sunny day. A pretty sight! I grew to love the look of these cars more and more. My brother has one and I drove it over a summer and really appreciated the 944T, He has an 86 in zermatt silver with black interior and color matched fuchs wheels and an upgraded turbo . They can be made to look very nice and are fun cars for weekend runs and road trips. Really practical too and now exotic looking. You barely see them around. Especially nice ones.

Big update!

My car is now in the hands of Edredas who some of your may know. He has a specialized Porsche 944 restoration shop. He will be doing a cosmetic restoration and addressing any of the remaining issues, including repaint in the Pearl white LA09 Porsche paint color. He will be providing pictures to me so I can document the process and share it with the forum. Looking forwards to the next stage of this build!

For those of you who are not aware of Edredas this is his website. https://www.edredas.com/ under services you can see the restoration packages he offers. As far as I know he has 14 cars being restored right now and an excellent reputation having provided years of youtube content based on servicing the 944 platform and is an active member of the 944 community.

After I received the car from York Euro car I drove it for the first time on a 4 hour road trip. The car drove wonderfully, The turbo spools up quickly and its so much fun. Its a perfect canyon carver and has sufficient power. How the turbo kicks in is delicious. And the practicality of the car is amazing. I brought my dog along.

It has brand new Continental DWS06 plus tires on. Makes a world of difference.
