Actually, come to think of it, Danno developed his chips with Travis while updating people on this board of his progress and TT appears to be up and up so don't think any copying is going on.

Bones, if you excluded the tuners that have been complained about on this board, you will not be able to buy from anybody. All have been flogged here. Some more than others...but all have been flogged...some have left.

Uhmmm and I read into it as if it were more like a royalty commission based fee.

Didn't really mean me, I've bought chips twice now, I'll continue to massage what I have for now. Mainly alluding to those in the market for chips. Such a thread as this doesn't build much consumer confidence for anyone.

What I have noticed about several tuners, (not talking about Danno in particular, and i know this is slightly off topic), is that when something does stink they want to blame it on the WG, the TSP valve, vaccuum leak, color of your car, the chitilbingbong, anything but their product.

I say, "NO, I PUT YOUR PRODUCT IN, IT DIDN'T WORK, I TOOK IT OUT AND PUT BACK THE ORIGINAL ONE AND IT WORKED FINE AGAIN, IT'S NOT THE BLAHBLAHBLAH SCREWING UP, IT'S THE PRODUCT YOU SOLD ME!"

Nail on the head? What "If" the chips in question were TT's in the first place and an agreement was made that they be sold by "another" tuner. What if that tuner has modified the chips over and over again but never paid the "original" developer as agreed and passed them off as his own. What if the TRUE guru behind these chips has paired up with another tuner knowing that his previous developments will never pay off. Since "ethics" has come up, it doesn't sound too ethical to me. Hypothetical of course.

What if it was the Professor in the Library with a candle stick?

Just a little light relief there...

NZ, aren't you studying to be a professor? Or are you one already (I noticed your email address is an educational one). Maybe you are the Professor in question?

Professorship can be taught in NZ Universities (and most others apart from US ones I think they use it as a general term for someone who teaches rather than awarded)... you become one with a certain academic and teaching contributions. I will have a masters degree in 3.5 months! Cant wait to hand that sucker in... then I am starting a PhD. I will be a doctor when I write that thesis. Then I will sleep for 2 years! Hey I am going to Brisy and Melb in a few weeks, pizza run? PS go the blues! Rat bastard lucky tries and bad refferee cost me $ !!

Yep, bad result for the blues last night. If you are in Brisvegas in two weeks time you will find no shortage of people willing to have a bet against the blues, especially with a kiwi. Everytime I am up there and having a bet against the cane toads, it turns out to be a home game and they win! If you end up spending some time in the harbour city, we can catch up for a beer. Are you going for work?

FWIW, I have Jon Milledge's chips, shims, and drilled cycling valve: $300. It came with about five pages of written instructions. In over fifty track days, I've never had a problem with the engine, so I've never had a reason to contact him. Jon doesn't sell anything unless he's tested it on his own dyno. No affiliation, just a happy customer. Of course, it's only 290 hp with a K26/8 at 1 bar. With his upgraded turbo, you get 330. His dyno tests show that an MAF is worth about 4 hp, so I didn't bother with that.

Henri Costa at Refined (416-248-9777) built the engine. It has a cross-drilled and knife-edged crank, the collar around the oil pickup, and the trap door to keep the oil in the pan on left-hand turns, plus a large oil cooler. I plan to switch to Amsoil when the weather gets hotter, and probably do the rod bearings this winter - just in case. (I hope I haven't just jinxed myself.)
