Default Ballast Resistor Installation?

For all those that are still wondering, I can confirm that running low impedience injectors will toast the Bosch computer. In this case it resulted in a free tow out of the infield at Summit Point(Thank you Huntley Racing).

The good news is had a spare computer on the shelf and the car is back running. I purchased the 55# injectors from HR and from previous posts understand these to be low impedience which causes the computer to eventually melt down--or in my case anyway.

Before I toast the replacement, does anyone have detail on the installation of ballast resistors? I understand this is the most simple and cheapest cure available.

Also, a place to purchase ballast resistors?

Many Thanks.

I got mine from Danno over at Guru Racing . They came with the 55# injectors I bought but I'm imagine you could get them separately. Install instructions came with em as a PDF. Quite easy to install.

I have a set of ballast resistors I got with my injectors from Danno I can sell you for $50 plus shipping. Since I went to the Tec3 I did not need them.

Well, seeing as Magown sold me a set and my Mom decided to throw them away, I guess I will.

Thanks!

2 of them in series with the injector wires coming out of the DME (one per wire, 2 wires total) and you're set. If you're concerned about heat, attach them to an aluminum plate to act as a heat sink.

You need them with the 52 if you intend to push the car for long periods of time. Like DE events.

Just a reminder you will need 4 if you ever want to run sequential injection!

Tazman--yes I will purchase these. When it comes to electrical stuff, I am like a cross current waiting to happen, so I will need the instructions.

My email is cjb3@ntelos.net--or I can be reached at 800-292-9787.

Thanks for all you guys. That was my first post, I had no idea I would get such a response.

There was a post some time ago where to get them and how to do it. Do a search. They are under 10 bucks if you do it yourself. I did a set and eventhough it didn't look as good as the Guru they work just fine.
