Porsche 951 #1 with Anderson Motor Fired Up today! Need Help!
Above is the engine that was pulled out of this car. It has taking me 3 years to get the money around and slowly rebuild my first love that I purchased in 2000. Today was the first time in 3 years that this car has ever ran. After the many hours of installing a new engine harness, replacing just about every part imaginable and almost 7k in parts, the car seemed to fire right up. The only problem I'm seeing is NO OIL PRESSURE. Tim @ SFR told me to prime the pump which I did, which involved pouring oil down the oil filter housing until it remains full while manually cranking the motor. I started the car after doing this and I still get no oil pressure. I let the engine run for a good 15 seconds and I still get nothing and shut the car down. I kept letting the car run in 15 second intervals for about 3 more times and I still get nothing. I pulled the oil filter to see if there was oil flowing and nothing, still looks new put the oil is full in the two holes were I primed it. My question is how long does it take to prime the system? I'm afraid to let the car run any longer than 15 seconds at a time, will I damage it if I let it run any longer? Please any ideas to help a anxious Porsche guru get this thing going correctly is greatly appreciated.
Above is a picture of the engine that was installed in the car. I had the headers Jet Hot coated and I painted the cam housing.

Three Wheelin'
Are those headers stock? I don't see the flex accordian. As for the oil problem, I'd at least pull the spark plugs and add a little oil to each cylinder just to be safe until you get the pressure up.

The headers are SFR Stage 1 with jet hot coating.
David, been pouring oil in the filter housing until it would not allow anymore to go so its full to the top! I forgot to check the crankshaft nut though, torque it to 150ft pounds right? How do I torque it that high, cause the engine keeps rotating.
Cory thanks, its been a working progress. To bad the rest of the car doesnt look as good as the motor, lol.

Pour oil into the REARMOST hole in the filter boss and crank the engine backwards with a 24mm socket - repeat 5 x refilling a feed tube (18" length of fuel hose is good) each time before turning the engine. I fought this too last month on a new engine and with help from a lister, this seemed to do the trick

By backwords you mean counter clockwise right? I will post a picture but ever hole that was in the filter housing we put oil in it until it was full. Thanks for the info guys keep them coming.

Do you check on the oil pressure relief valve in the oil filter housing?
If is stuck you have no oil pressure.

I have to recommend getting a proper flywheel lock however, they're not expensive nor hard to use.

Crankshaft bolt!!!!!!!!! I'm telling you, that's what it is. Been there, done that. Get the flywheel lock and lock the engine down. Make sure the pulley is centered as well. It's easy to catch the lip of the pulley and tighten down on it and the torque is not transfered to the oil pump. The last time the mech screwed mine up I was able to get great pressure after 75-80 of torque. Make sure you disable the spark and spin the engine w/o running it until the pressure comes up. It should take less than 10 minutes. Good luck!
