Default Has anyone tried 2 turbos?

Curious if 2 turbos have been used and if there are any examples with our I4 engines.

Ask Michael Mount... if anybody has been successful with that, he would know about it.

I have Audis with V6 twin turbos. Without OBD2, I would not have a chance in the world of diagnosing it.

There would be all cons and zero gains to doing so.

I would only do this if I were a shop looking to show off my fabrication skills

Thanks for the comments and photo with link. Good point Special Tool made about I4 propulsions not being good for the set up (makes sense).

I think twin scroll makes much more sense than 2t.

BMW (or maybe Volvo?) in recent years made a I-6 with 3 turbos on it.
the intent of the twin turbo is to get your HP target but spool faster. either two medium size turbos or one small one large depending on how its plumbed.

twin scrolls get you pretty much the same effect but are more $.

these days though you can get a more capable ECU that lets you spool up earlier with the tuning (cut timing/play with AFR to make the EGT hot)

Even the the engineers behind the V12 Quad turbo Bugatti EB110 later admitted that quad turbos were only there for marketing impact and that twin turbos on a V12 is the way to go.
Twin turbos on a straight 6 are really only there to be run sequentially to reduce lag- high power GTR's & Supra's are invariably single turbo.
