Default Ticking noise

About 3/4 of mile before my house is a straight away with a long right hand sweep, so I floored it through the first three gears close to redline. After I pulled into my driveway I heard a ticking noise loud at first then it got faint but I still could hear it through the exhaust. What could this be? Reno

It wasn't coming from the exhaust seemed to come from the top part of the motor vs the bottom end. I had new bearings done when I replaced the pan gasket. Upon reving it was more noticeable has the revs started to drop. Reno

Shouldn't be a big deal- make sure your oil level is good. Sounds like its just your lifters ticking.

its caused from air in your lifter's. No big deal my dad's 928 does it, all of my 944's have done it, and my 951 does it as well.

As elonDooberhead already said just make sure you oil level is good and you should be fine.

Eventually, what will happen? and so you think by adding a detergent it will free up the lifter? Reno

When it does do it, it stays steady.

I finally got a chance to look at my car today. Normally I check my oil everytime I use my car but the last month I had not. So I took the advise you guys posted and guess what .. it was 2 1/4 quarts low. Thanks for all the replies, Reno
