Ahhh, now maybe we are getting somewhere. Is is possible that the valve (any valve) flows more in the configuration I described, since the the valve will have boost pressure on one side and a slight vacuum on the other side -- pushing and pulling air through it. If you vent to the atmosphere, then you have to push the air out against atmospheric pressure (and whatever obstructions the air meets as it exits the BOV)? Maybe I am over-thinking it, I dunno. Don't you go rich when all the measured air gets dumped out of the system?

Yea, it does go rich, it also goes rich when its plumbed into the intake. Magown used this turbo in his car with the godzilla BOV and did not have any surge...

EDIT: Even though I did not have a problem with the K26/6, I wonder if using a valve designed to go into the intake, to vent to the atm may cause some restriction?

A valve designed to recircilate usally don't work well on BOV-mode. They tend to leak at idle and I don't know how tight they are at boost.
Do you have the possibility to test it in stock configuration (vent to intake)?

Sadly I cant plumb it into the intake, I actually got an email from Tim (SFR) and he made a similar comment about the BOV not operating correctly in this configuration. I need to grab a BOV that vents to atm by design and see how it goes... though I never had an issue with my old turbo and the same BOV setup at any boost level... weird.

This is because your other turbo wasnt moving as much air as this new turbo.

Is that a light at the end of the tunnel? Good luck, NZ, I've been following this thread with interest, sorry I don't have any input. Looking forward to seeing a dyno run when you get this sorted!

Thanks for your comment Ben. Hopefully changing to a designed BOV will fix my issues and then something is learnt! Learning is fun and relaxing.

Can you plumb two BOV's for the extra volumn? Not on a "Y" but each with it's own connection.

Yes you can, I would like to aviod the expense of having two if I can get away with it. I will run the boost off the banjo, making a dual banjo today, and run a dedicated vac line off one of the ports I made on the intake manifold...

UPDATE: Ok, I got a banjo bolt and are running both lines off the turbo IC pipe for boost control, and the ports on the manifold are going directly to the BOV and to to the fuel dampener. The surge is no different at all. I am assuming I need a bigger BOV, there is nothing else it can be. I have ordered my Boostguy pipes with provision for the Tial 50mm, so should know more then.

Been good thanks. I always thoght it was the crappy BOV. What valve did you end up using? Tell me more about the cam! 944 R? What does the R represent? Does it need more modding or drop in?

I am using a billet aluminum one but not the stock one....it's made by Rvm and has 25 mm inlet /outlet..bough it cheap on e bay...same one as Lindsey only cheaper..wouldlove to go with a bigger on but 25 mm seems good enough..30 % more flow than stock!! give or take..check it out..RVM on e bay....as far as the cam the only modifications are the cam tower I think..not sure even..maybe not..I'll have both just in case..this guy says he has one...will let you know!! I was going to buy it as a spare..but I don't think my cam will break any time soon! will keep you posted
PS
Compared to American big brewing Steinlager is actually very good...when compared to private brew or microbrew it does not fare well but it beats Budweiser, coors,Miller and all that other crap hands down...had a six pack at the river this weekend..not bad!!!

I really cant stand Steinlager. Its too much Like Heinie... I am actually quite partial to Corona with lime. Cam tower modifications? Any idea what the R means? I am curious.
