Default Part 944-572-063-08-01C, a/c Fan Box Cover (Water Channel in parts jargon)

This thing is made of the thinnest plastic imaginable, and Sunset wants $150 for it, if it's even available. Anyone have one NIB, or otherwise perfect condition and willing to sell? Or, has anyone made this from 2 layers of CF? If not, I guess I'm going to end up teaching myself how to do CF molding/part making.

They should still be available, but yeah....stupid expensive for what it is. I bought a new one for around $150 early 2020. The plastic seems a lot better quality than what was used 35 years ago.

I can, hopefully, teach myself to make a plug, mold and part using CF. It would be stupid expensive for a single part, but it would be the coolest one around.

Now all I need is time...

$150 is an improvement, in a way. I wasn’t able to find one at all the last time I was looking (2 years ago). Mine is being held together by a couple of strategically placed pieces of “Gorilla Tape.”

It’s pretty brittle after 35 years.

I made molds for a living! .I should build a mold and supply the community with quality carbon ones. You are talking about the cover that goes above the fan motors?
if enough people need them it is simple to pull a splash off a good part.
I'm game to build the mold if I have enough interest in parts to cover cost.

In, of course. CF parts add HP, right?

I will start working the plug when I get back in my home after a flood. I'm retired, disabled so I only work at mach 2 instead of mach 10. If I can pay for the materials with a couple for the community I will do them for cost,I'll post some carbon fiber weave patterns for a consensus of pretty,I could do them out of glass or carbon
since they will be done at ambient temps,no autoclave or vacuum pump 😁😁😁😁

Do you have a good part to build the plug from?

Mine is pretty brittle. Hope to be able to stabilize it to pull the mold,I will probably remove the vertical seam and make it flat as long as there is no negative draft.
oh wait isn't selling against the rules, I guess I'll post pictures of my project!!

You guys should count yourselves lucky: RHD versions are nearly double the cost....
