Default Are MAF's worth the money?

I am really interested in the Lindsey Stage II MAF, however, I am having a hard time in trying to get myself to pony up the cash! Is it worth the money? About how much rwhp will be gained when run with a stock k26/6? Or, would it make more sense to upgrade the turbo?

Thanks for the feedback!

The stock K26/6 is good for about 260rwhp @ 16psi and 275rwhp@18psi. This is also the limit for the stock injectors as well. You can hit that with our GURU MAP-1 upgrade kit for $895. Also good for 310rwhp on a TurboS at 18psi as well.

Unless you're in New Zealand, in which case the stock turbo is good for 315HP at 14psi.

I have an Autothority MAF. I think they are more to do with spool-up and lag reduction / throttle response than outright power.

In other words you could probably get more power per $ going some other route on a fairly standard engine. Once you have other mods and the stock AFM becomes a big restriction then the story changes...

MAF/MAP upgrades are well worth the cash, unless you want to take it yet another step further and go w/ something like Haltech / TEC3 / SDS / Link standalone...

Westcoast do you even have a car? You are annoying and pointless. Last time I checked, 1 bar was not 14psi.

BACK to question of the thread....

yes they're worth it, both MAF and MAP. Where I noticed the main performance difference was in torque and response. I previously had the Kokeln intake pc on my car. In second, the car would break the tires loose sometimes. Now with the MAF you need to be a bit more careful getting on boost or they'll break away almost all of the time, this with 15 psi. After I install my LSD next week, the car is going back to the dyno with race gas and make some new runs.

You shouldn't use the Lindsey MAF without a proper set of chips burned for your setup/turbo. I would say, no it's not worth the money as you have to buy the chips and dyno tune it and it doesn't give you much more HP than just a good set of chips. As a first step I would rather go with a set of guru chips or Guru MAP as its a plug and play solution. I am running a bigger turbo with the stock AFM and don't feel any disatvantages.

The PO installed the APE MAF and chips and they are worth it (especially since I didn't pay for it). You won't see the biggest gains with a mostly stock engine. As it was mentioned before, they will help flow more air and more air is good. However, I think of a MAF/MAP as being more necessary if you'll be upgrading the turbo and flowing a lot more air.

I'm getting 250rwhp with the set up in my signature. I feel that there is more available with some AFR tuning.

Bottom line. I recommend them if you have the $$ and may be adding other mods down the road.

I am running a bigger turbo with the stock AFM and don't feel any disadvantages

Do you have anything to test this against?

The APE MAF with their chips and no other mods offers about 30-35 HP, makes the car run night and day different and is all around a great modification.

The APE MAF with a K27-6 will net about 270RWHP from the graphs I have seen, which is about 100 more than stock.

The barn door AFM in these cars is absolute garbage at best. Odd that not that many responses on this topic, I would have figured it would get hot in here.
