While mine is not original, it has its entire drivetrain/body mods all factory 968 turboS/RS so its as close as one will get to being original and being able to drive it on the street .

Awesome! Sounds like a lot of time and cash went into your car. Is that the yellow 968T I remember posted a while back?

Any details on the Neon?
500 i suppose is at the crank?
If we knew boost level and gas type it would be easier to "compare".

Actually I think our cars does NOT require very much mods to be real monsters. I usually think about that when looking at engine specs for other tuned cars. Most of the cars requires to mods almost everything to achieve big HPs.

As said earlier... A 4-1 header with a real garret hotside turbo, modified intake manifold, other cam, injectors, other exhaust and wastegate and larger intercooler along with maf/MAP/Standalone..
That's pretty much "everything" needed to "beat" that Neon..

And I bet that car has all the above mods plus pistons, rods etc.

I think it comes down to the attitude of most Porsche owners. There aren't many owners out there that are willing to tune their cars to such a high level that they risk blowing it every too often.
Those of our crowd with 500 hp monsters often have paid serious amounts for the engine, but then again... they can more or less push the engine all day long at the racetrack.

HP can be cheap.. but reliability will never be!

The Yellow 968T, aka Motec 968, was a US 968 (16V) turbocharged by KMR, not a Euro spec 968 Turbo (8V).

A GT-32 would be better for that 500hp mark. That's 425rwhp with our 15% drivetrain loss.

That neon has the stock block and head. it made 500hp at the wheels. It was on a GT40 compressor and GT30 hotside. Boost Pressure was 25 PSI.

Here are some quotes from the owner:

"We're running 105 unleaded in the car currently. We've put down over 415 horses with 93 octane with LOTS of room to spare."

"that was some good 'ol n2o. We didnt have a good carpet fan to move the air and we also lost about 30 horses though the clutch slipping so we're confidnant that we can be near 550 with a little tweaking"

Bugger me!

Thats the first car I have ever seen that looks good with colour coded wheels. Where did you get those side skirts? I need some... and the rear spolier?

Do you have any shots of the rear spolier from better angles?

Bring that little neon to me. I'll put the stamp out there for our cars. It's not just 1/4 mile times, but handling and braking and lets see what top end he has. Bet it will blow at 160mph while I hit 194mph. It did cost money but I got a warranty and Powerhaus built the same motor that has over 90,000 miles and still going. Our cars have a ton of room to play with. A lot of us have shown that. Yeah I know I'm biased, but its ok. You guys are right there with me.

Damn Joe... way to pipe up and say it like it is! I can't wait to see your car in the latest issue of European Car mag (hopefully tomorrow I'll pick it up!). I really do want to meet up with you sometime and buy you a beer. If I find myself out near you sometime, I will hold you to your word of "Rides encouraged.." I want to hear stories about this car too

And 968... I've said it before and I'll say it again, put those pictures away!! That car is simply too damn sexy to be shown Honestly, that car IMO looks sexier than a brand new 996 any day of the week!

EDIT: OK, I just realized I posted once again relating nothing to the given thread (it's a recent problem of mine... sometimes I get distracted by these hot photos posted... I'll seek help, I promise!)

The SRT-4 at hand... a respectable car to say the least. Any car that can push a 2.4l to 500whp deserves all respect no matter what you think of it's build quiality or looks. Personally, I think it looks like a modified econobox, but that's just me. I'd take a 951 over an SRT-4 anyday. Would one of those things give the same pleasure I get from driving Lorelie? Not a chance!!
