So B951S any chance I could get you to log a run in third gear starting around 2000rpm to see a plot of the boost for the Vitesse turbo?

Here is my 26/8 without me messing with the AVC-R to get a quicker spool up. I plan to turn the boost up to 18psi this week and I will setup the AVC-R to get the best spool up I can and I will post a picture of that also.

B951S
I was wondering as SilverBullett 951 has asked
"How much does the link 2 kit go for?"

And also as tma§951 had asked ...

"Sorry to ask, but I don`t know
Whats Link 2 Stand Alone (fuel managment i assume)? Any place I can read more about it? Different than a piggyback/maf?"

I saw your response below but am not sure who or where to go since I am
new to this board and cause I am cluless as he is ,:-)

Its a different world to a piggy back and MAF. A search will yeild some info. It odes not massage the signal like a piggy back. It replaces your whole DME and KLR boxes and chips. It does not work with a wire in your intake like the MAF, it works on manifold absolute pressure, much more exact for tuning IMO. To answer your question, fuel management system, I would say no. Its a light year ahead of just that in terms of its functions. Go to Performance Development talk to Neil or SuperJet.1 they will have som info.

Who is Performance Devp .....
Thanks in advance
Regards
Ed

I bought the Link 2, resistor pack for injectors, harness, igniter and inlet temp sensor for about $2,500 if I remember correctlly.

The link 2 is a stand alone engine management system. You basically remove the stock computers and engine harness and install the link system. The harness is plug and play in that it fits all the stock sensors. THe electronics box houses all the electronics to control every aspect of the engine operating characteristics. It also has the drivers for driving injectors. The link box can be hooked up to a PC where you can adjust fuel / timing maps and all other operating parameters and also data log information to allow later analysis. A cool thing on the Link is that you can plug in a hand held programmer that allows EVERY parameter to be accessed and adjusted on the fly as well as looking up maximum boost pressures, rpms, injector % etc for a given run (from ingnition turn on). Performance Developments are then main dealer in the US for Link products (aussie company). As a happy end user, I am very happy with the Link 2 (aka Link Plus in other circles). To the untrained eye, My car apprears stock under the hood as far as someone being able to tell that it has stand alone engine management.

From all I have read, from this board and what little I know :-), it seems
that the best way to manage the engine is not thru a piggy back sys but thru
a stand alone because the level of tuning is far superior w/ a stand alone sys.
It seems as has been said on this board the piggy back only massages the
signals as opposed to sending the signal as is understood completely by the
receiver. i.e. no fog or confusion. Please forgive my ignorance. I really am
clueless of the whole tunning process and would have to learn a great deal,
it sounds like, in order to take full advantage of this set up?
don't live in CA. If one was to buy a system like this I wonder if one
wanted to revert back to the old DME&KLR boxes to, say pass emissions here
in CA, one would be able to ? That's assuming ... this is the funny part :-)
A bigger turbo, bigger wstgt, air intake and injectors (55) would also run and
pass, on the old boxes if they were swapped back in ??????
Does anyone on this board know the answer to this ??
Also do you have a number and location of performance devp ??
I don't know how to contact them
Thanks for you assistance
Regards
Ed

Chances are that the guys at the emmissions place would not even know you were running stand alone. The link should be be able to control fuel for emmissions at least as well the the stock DME.

I have GOT to quit reading threads like this... I am already spending money in my head, and this is absolutely killing the resale value of the Guru Stage II MAP kit I am trying to sell in the classifieds... *sigh*

Eddie,

Once you data log, honeslty any idiot can tune it. for best results see you local dyno, however, with knock control and MAP limit settings, its hard to screw it up! Myself or Davinder can lend you a file if you want to play around with it... the software is free.

I am doing the exact same thing. I really want to replace the turbo and the head before I go standalone though. 2500.00 ouch.....ouch. Can any idiot really tune it after you get it installed? I am a pretty big idiot when it comes to this stuff because I really dont have any experience. How much did the link2 go for in the group buy??

Group buy finished a few weeks ago I think.

Hello, my name is Andrew, and I am a tuning retard.

It reports about 15-20 car characteristics or functions. You get so much info on your engine and its offers so much flexibility its amazing. As a diagnostic tool is worth 2.5K. You could over the life of your modding speed $100's on chip re-maping. This does it to the nth degree. Its a nice windows GUI, ala fast and the furious style with 3D graphs etc. But not as ****e looking. If you have eyes and can see, and have a finger to press a button, you can tune this. It is a case of lloking at your AF's at MAP levels and TPS and adjusting a cell up or down to suit.

CAUTION you may end up on the other side of the country tuning due to long data log runs. I used 3/4 of a tank of petrol in a day once. So may aux functions as well, thats where the fun starts when you have your base tuning done. IC water sprayer controller, Launch Control, Anti-lag, Flat foot shifting... sigh I am weeping its a beautiful thing.

Call Neil at Performance Developments. He will sort you out. I will offer you my PCL file as a reference point. It is 8 hours on the dyno worth and will be a good starting point. Obviously you will need to make some changes as your engine withh have different characteristics. Actually, Davinder, do you have mine still? Maybe we could put up a link to ours? I just got a new laptop and have not installed the software yet...
