What year is your car? '88TS and '89s used a 28 pin chip. Earlier cars had 26 pins.

I have a stock 28 pin chip you can borrow if you want to pay shipping. I'm sure others have chips stashed away as well.

It is a 1987 model. I am not sure what other years are compatible.

If you have an 87 model year car you need to find out if you have a 24 or 28 pin DME. Open it up and count the pins. You should probably open the KLR and see what's in there. Performance chips for the 951 typically come as a set. If you go back to stock then you need to make sure they're both stock configuration.

If you have access to a EPROM programmer you can download stock chip images for both 24 and 28 pin DME chips from Joshua's old DIY Tuning Tools web page. They are inside the 951 Bundle.zip file.

Markl951 - epic thank you for that information. I will open up both the KLR and DME and start counting pins. Do you know what to look for in the KLR?

All KLR EPROMs are 24 pin. It should be pretty obvious. If not, try doing a Google image search to help locate this part.

Paul Waterloo - thanks for reaching out. I have a potential lead on chip set and will reach out if it does not work out.

markl951 - Thank you so much for that information! I opened up the KLR and sure enough there was a performance chip in there too.

For others:
Here is a link to KLR DME removal process by Lindsey Racing: https://www.lindseyracing.com/LR/Parts/CHIPCHANGE.html

Here are a couple pictures to help identify what to look for:
