Transaxle

Transaxle
I have a problem with the transaxle. Taking advantage of replacing my old clutch with a SPEC, including the lightweight flywheel, I decided to change the transaxle, as the old one had a wear on the bearing housing of the crankshaft. Since then I have a vibration between 5,500rpm and 6,500rpm. Has this happened to any of you?

So you replaced the "torque tube" not the transaxle. First question, who rebuilt the torque tube, Second question, did you have the new flywheel and pressure plate balanced?

schip43. I mean that the torsion tube supports the crankshaft bearing on the flywheel side. kev951 The torsion tube was rebuilt by a mechanical company and replaced the bearings, it was not balanced. The new SPEC light engine flywheel and the pressure plate did not balance, I think you do not need it. I have done one last test: 1º With the car stopped, I accelerate the engine to 6,000rpm. and if it vibrates. 2º With the car stopped, I accelerate the engine to 6,000rpm with the clutch pedal pressed and it does not vibrate. Then it seems that the problem comes from the torsion tube. Will it be unbalanced? Do you know if the tube is balanced?

Three Wheelin'
Well I've not heard of this particular issue??? And man this sounds like a true PIA! It's most likely gonna involve a lot of in and out and double checking ... stuff??
OK I checked around and if I were to venture a guess, I think it's a bearing failure at the front or back of the torque tube??? So if you got another one I think it has bad bearings. They can be rebuilt but it seems to be a pretty involved job?? Looks about as bad as changing the clutch??
I don't know where you are but I found this site it's in the UK, so not of much use to me. But it's still interesting.

So that would be called a torque tube. The torsion tube is what holds the torsion bars for the rear suspension (instead of a leaf spring or coil springs). So on a torque tube the driveshaft is held by three bearings inside the torque tube. So what I would do is disconnect the transaxle from the driveshaft (grey slider toothed coupler in the transaxle bell housing(rear of car)). Then test again. I would think if only two bearings were installed to hold the driveshaft in the torque tube that would happen as well.
