I’m glad to have started down the road of weight reduction.

This batch of weight reduction includes:
*passenger seat delete
*rear seats deleted
*spare wheel delete
*compressor, tools, rear speakers deleted
*all the sound deadening removed (minus the deadening underneath the center console and located around the KLR and DME)

and all I can say is WOW! Definitely a noticeable difference.

The 4 biggest differences are:
*improved steering response - feels more nimble
*brakes quicker
*accelerates faster
*car feels quicker overall

The road noise is bearable with my stock exhaust, catalytic converter and street oriented suspension. However, with an aftermarket exhaust system I could see myself installing sound deadening material.

I will reinstall the passenger seat and spare wheel. This was just for fun.
I also have an aftermarket carpet kit ready to install when the time is right.

A few items I forgot to mention:

-PORSCHE lettering on camshaft sanded and polished
-EVAP system vacuum lines replaced

-instrument cluster trim resprayed black
-Rennbay injector seal kit installed
-Deleted rear speakers
-Corrected poor idle with idle adjust screw on throttle body
-Tightened throttle body cable
-cruise control lever deleted (dremel)

extra extra:
-Lart fuel lines top notch and I highly recommend
-AEM wideband sensor working wonderfully
-Vitesse V-Knock working properly
-engine running beautifully.

Looking good! Time to go after that cool white paint with a buffer.

Thank you.

She definitely needs a clay, polish and ceramic coating.

I am soaking the dashboard in Meguiars natural shine to keep the dashboard cracks from spreading.

Have my car on a similar diet.
AC system is another good reduction if you can live without it.
Aftermarket front seats are a good investment if this is a weekend or occasional track car, Recaro SRD's (now Speed) or similar. They offer a big weight savings from stock electric seats. Also lower your seating position (center of gravity) and have the added side bolsters for a more secure driving position.
If you went with the App Biz carpet kit this may help you out... https://rennlist.com/forums/944-turb...it-w-pics.html

Seats are definitely on the list. These OEM ones weigh too much and I would like the lower position and added side bolsters. It is a daily driver but still would like to swap them out for something else.

Going to keep the a/c and power windows. Maybe switch to a manual steering rack if my current power steering fails.
Thanks for the link. That is the carpet kit I have acquired :-)

Need to archive some information about the car before I forget.

NEED TO FIX:
-clock and dome lights are not working. They are on the same fuse and the fuse keeps popping. Bad ground I’m not sure 🤔.
-I need to push the front defrost button to run the 2nd radiator fan. It’s not turning on by itself. Believe there is a sensor on the radiator I need to replace.
-Rear drivers side is still leaning.
-clutch is slipping on the hot days
-wideband 02 sensor is not providing any more data. I believe not running the o2 sensor has caused the car to run Rich or Lean and has built up a lot of contamination on the physical o2 sensor
-rear right or left has a chatty brake pad
-air conditioning not working. I have never tried to diagnose it.
-rear electrical wire for the hatch defrost has disconnected.
-water into drivers side footwell
-rusty wiper arms
-oil in spark plugs # 1,3,4 areas

Fixed:

-rear rattle fixed (an exhaust hanger was missing a bolt)
-loose power steering pump bolt tightened back down.
-only944.com tail light seals installed.
-Aug.05.2020 - new o2 sensor installed
-Aug.05.2020 - installed fog light fuse and fog lights work again.
-Aug.12.2020 - alternator belt replaced (was squeaking)
-Aug.12.2020 - power steering belt replaced (might as well replace since it needed to be removed to access the alternator belt)
-Aug.12.2020 - spark plugs replaced
-Aug.12.2020 - heavy duty bottom end and suspension cleaning
Sept.2020 - new battery installed. (Car runs again and no longer takes 2-3 cranks to fleet started)
Sept.2020 - Starter and Alternator tested at NAPA and are in optimal performing condition.
Nov.2020 - Odometer working again (cleaned black debris in gears
Nov.2020 - Brand new Porsche air filter installed (pelican-parts.com)
Nov.2020 - grounds by the tail lights and headlights cleaned up
Nov.2020 - replaced speed/reference sensor located closest to the engine (pelican-parts.com)
Nov.2020 - custom auxiliary USB ports removed
DEC.2020 - DME re-soldered and working again.

-other:

did a heavy duty cleaning of the rear suspension.

Pictures:

picture above: Lart fuel lines. Laust 5 port vacuum manifold. Relocation of the heater control valve. 3.0fpr. Cruise control delete (broken when I purchased the car. Front brake pad sensors delete (wires fried when I purchased the car). B&B headers. Really improved the midrange

Picture above:
New exhaust tip installed. It looks too petite and does a bad job covering up the muffler and muffler hardware. Will go an alternative route if I keep the car.

Nice work! What do you use the toggle switches for, and where did you acquire them? Also, what brand of boost gauge is that in your center console?

I like the 964 washer tank idea; interesting this comes up because just yesterday a 964 Turbo customer was asking about this tank because his has a broken neck and was asking about getting another one.

FYI most 964s had that bottle as a second "intensive" tank to fill with undiluted washer concentrate, but the RS used that tank only as a main tank.

I use the toggle switches to play with lol. Sometimes when I get in the car I flip the switches and pretend it’s needed to start the car. Makes me feel like I’m getting into a race car. Or if I’m driving I will switch them to the “on” position if I feel like driving fast.
I play with my niece in the car and the left switch pretend takes us to the beach, right toggle pretend takes us to the woods.

I was thinking of using the toggles to control a variable exhaust valve or a to act as a kill switch for the battery. Maybe use it as the controls to a super soaker in the front. That would be pretty funny.

But as of right now they are not connected to anything. Just looks cool and to play with. I was inspired by what this company did:

https://www.augmentautomotive.co.uk/...o-gauge-panel/

I purchased the toggles switches on eBay:

Longacre 45470 Heavy Duty 40 Amp Aircraft Style Toggle Switch #1734

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Longacre-45470-Heavy-Duty-40-Amp-Aircraft-Style-Toggle-Switch-1734/272686778612

The boost gauge is by VDO. Really great fitment. Wish my wideband o2 sensor was the same size.

I absolutely love how the RS washer tank sits in the 944 engine bay. It just looks right.

cool FYI nugget 😎. Really smart idea.

If your client is looking for a tank. I purchased mine here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Porsche-911...wAAOSw~AVYr2K0

Currently a no-start. Not sure what the no-start issue is at the moment. I believe it to be something minor. Nothing crazy like a blown head gasket. I can’t figure it out.

You can post details here or start a new thread and we can help you figure it out. There are some smart guys on here who have worked on these cars for a long time. Not claiming that I'm smart, but I do fix them for a living
