I have heard of people making the hole bigger in the oil tube, How is that done? Isnt 3/8 big enough?

The part you are making bigger is a stock restriction inside the 3/8 opening in the top of the separator. You have to take off the separator and drill it out. Easy job if you are already in there...

Ahhh so the line or hose going to the can will be the same? Do you just use a plastic connector with hose clips?

Take a line out of the bottom and route it to a point in the block above the oil level for a return.?? nice if you have the motor out.

If you are running a recirculating catch can, you want it to go below the oil level. If you are running an open catch can, it doesn't matter if it routes above or below the oil level. We were thinking of taping the oil return line banjo bolt as a place to route the drain line.

First I'm going to drain it into a cup and see if I actually want that stuff to go back into my crankcase... But I imagine if it came out of the crankcase, there is already a bunch of the same type of junk already in the crankcase so it woulen't matter.

Was I right that the conector to the oil tube does not change when you drill the seperator? So I can make my can with a 3/8 connector and use the same sized hose at both ends?

i wouldn't drain it re-circ style... oil's cheap, engines aren't. if you have enough blow-by or what have you that you're draining this thing and adding significant amt's of oil every week, well, you've got bigger issues.

NZ-
that is correct...

dmo-
Those were my thoughts as well, but since all the stuff that gets collected is in the crankcase to begin with, I would imagine it isn't a probelm to dump it back in... I guess I'll make up my mind when I look at what comes out.

Duke-
Did you want a can? I was going to make a shipment today (hopefully). I can send yours now if you'd like. Same thing for anyone else...

Do any of you guys know how the lindsey unit is? Does anyone know someone that has one; I'm looking for some feedback.

Thanks.

I have the lindsey one, very VERY happy with every aspect - the hard-line they provided to run from the drain under the car (so you could set a can/jar/pan/whatever under there, then open the drain-****) broke -- but thats was because my dumb-*** smacked it pretty hard pulling the engine out last time (doh).

I have the Lindsey unit and it works well, as mentioned above if you have a lot of oil blowing thru then there is a problem. I have this problem, high leakdown , once new rings are installed, I will adapt the Lindsey unit to run back into the intake, the can will catch the oil and let the "hot oil smell"
that I get in the cabin with me now reburn thru the intake, I don't think the octane issue is a problem on the street, at the track add Xylene or race gas.

What I drain out now I would not want going back into the crankcase, water and oil mixture.

Just my 2 cents.

It should always be below the oil level.
