Default Shift Pattern Caps are here!

Shift Pattern Cap

That didn't take too long, did it? I promised January and just made the cutoff. The success of the turbo cap allowed me to go ahead and tool another version and this is the final product. Same high quality finish as the turbo caps, but now the NA guys (or turbo guys who might forget where their gears are) have something to buy.

These are ready to go, meaning I can ship them tomorrow. I did a group buy before on the turbo caps where I offered them for $40 shipped and I'm going to offer that same introductory price this time except I'm going to forego the head count. Makes my life easier and if this caps works out as well as the turbo one, I'll far exceed my 15 person quota for the group buy.

Those who are interested, you can either reply here for more info, PM me, or just send $40 Paypal to joejackson951@comcast.net and I'll get your cap shipped the next business day.

If you want to see some feedback on the turbo cap, check out this thread:

Joe,

Can you ship to Canada (Montreal area)? I'd be interested in a "turbo" cap if you still have'em.

I can ship anywhere in the world. Turbo caps are $45 shipped anywhere (US, Canada, Europe, Australia to name a few of the places they've gone).

Not yet. That's next on my list though.

Joe,

Would you mind cutting out some brushed aluminum script similar to the TURBO badge on the back of our cars, that say P O R S C H E and fit in the P O R S C H E indentations in the back of the 944/951 spoiler?

It'd be easy and nice to accent that little forgotten spot.

That would be awesome. Could make it a package deal with the caps.

So do you have a machine shop???

Joe,

These look great, I already have the Turbo script one, but I might order one of these and give the Turbo Script to my father...... (Unless you have plans to make one with the Dog Leg 5 speed pattern)

That would probably be something better left to the guys who have CNC's at their disposal. These caps are investment cast (search for previous threads for an explanation of the process). It's not very well suited to producing thin, flat parts like those letters would be. Not saying that I can't do it, but someone else might be able to accomplish it for less money as they wouldn't be outsourcing the work.

That said, I do not have a machine shop or a casting foundry. I outsource the casting work. I provide the CAD models and drawings. They cut the tools and make the castings. I do the final finishing myself though.

Thanks, Ian. What do you mean by dog-leg 5 speed pattern? Are you referring to the 928 shift pattern? At least for now, I have no plans to make an insert for the 928 but that could change. Am I assuming correctly or not? I do plan on making a 968 6 speed version, probably available mid to late March.

Joe, the C2 Turbo cars (or the 965 or the 964 Turbo, what ever you want to call it) has reverse up to the left, instead of down and to the right like our cars. I couldn't think of anything to call it so I used the old BMW term for similar boxes and called it a dog leg, odds are its not the right porsche term.

Dogleg is the correct term. I didn't realize you were talking about a 911 though. I know this has been discussed before but I've yet to see any real proof that the later 911's use the same inserts. Could you take a picture of your dad's shifter?
