Default Cheap Subwoofer Job done

Now that I have done a MAF, Boost, Oil temp, AFR gauges on my 951 and it is running better than ever anticipated (leaving E46M3's on the track like they were Beetles!) I went out to upgrade the sound in my dedicated track car (I know it doesn't make any sense but WTF).

Previously I had put the Blaupunkt 4x6 in the front (PO had them in the rear also had an aftermarket Clarion CD system). System was ok but lacking any bass at all so I looked at the KLA offerings - great but $$$. Decided to go to my local stores and sniff.

Found at Circuit City the BAzooka EL-8A (8" self- amplified bass tube) for $99. This is their lower powered unit. I have the EL-8A HP in my M3 and love it. FOr $99 I said why not, if it was not enough I could just return it.

Got it wired easily enough. Ran the power lead from the battery across the wiper/air vent area and into the driver's interior through the large grommet near the fuse box. RCA's from the radio back to the trunk on the driver's side. Grounded it to the ground point of the rear lights.

The Bazooka is a perfect fit in the spare tire well. There are 3 raised tabs/rests that the spare used to sit against. I drilled the outer 2 for the bazooka straps (reinforced the mounting points with extended 1" aluminum strips), and used a singles strap through the center tab for a total of 3 straps. The bazooka is suspended from the well bottom and only is held against the 3 rear raised tabs in a transverse orientation.

For me, the sound is just what I wanted- some fill-in bass. It will not even come close to winning any contests, but the install is clean & invisible, and for $99 a real bargain!

Very inventive. I would love to see pics of how you mounted it too.

Sounds like a good idea. I don't have the spare. What do you guys do for a spare tire? For those that don't have one, what are your plans if you have a flat?

No spare tire alternatives:

1)fix-a-flat
2)cell phone
3)open trailer

Here is the pic. The supplied Bazooka mounts are way too flimsy and long to support the tube against the spare mounts so the silver piece is the aluminum supports I added to help. The middle strap was an extra I had. Zip ties the straps next to the buckles and they will not loosen. Waaay cheaper than the other alternatives, and portable to boot.

lol....negitive already? 12 posts...hmmm

I personally like it alot. I have been thinking about upping the ante on my bass. I don't like the bass to drown out the rest of the sound I just want nice clean bass that adds to the rest of the mids and high's. Maybe this might be a good way to go. thanks for the info eclou!

Don't mean to be negative..........
It just doesn't look like a very clean install!
Spend $130 and get the KLA Industries box, although it's not powered like the Bazooka, it makes for a very clean install.
