Default blown diverter valve symptoms?

According to my afermarket gauge Im hitting 15psi boost but the car seems less powerful. I tried the suck and blow method on the diverter valve and it didnt seem to hold anything. Would I still show boost if the valve is bad?

Yes you will still show boost but the turbo has to work harder to get the same boost as before. Replace the diverter valve then see if you have other problems.

I'm getting the EVO billet diverter valve soon from paragon, I'll let you know how it feels.

I will be interested in your experience. I was looking at the lindsey unit but that is quite a bit more and money is very scarce right now.

Then just go to Paragon and buy a $30 or so stock replacement for now, when money is better then upgrade if you want.

I just replaced mine with the 993 unit, which cost me about $32 and 20-30 minutes to replace. My old one was original and completely shot. In all honesty, I can't feel much of a difference, so I wouldn't expect this to cure any serious loss in seat of the pants performance. My (factory) boost gauge doesn't indicate that I increased my peak boost (~1.7 bar), but I may have improved response slightly in some situations. I haven't had the chance to take the car out on a spirited run in the twisties, so perhaps it becomes more apparent when you push the car.

Conclusion: Worth doing, but don't expect miracles. I think there's a good reason that most of these cars have been rolling around for years with non-functioning BOVs.

I agree with David above. I was experiencing the symptoms you guys are talking about and, since the original Porsche diverter valve lasted 15 years, I got my replacement through my local dealer for $38.00. That "violent kick" upon hitting the gas that we all love so much came back immediately. So...I say go with what the Porsche engineers designed back in the day and save your extra $$ for a rainy day - or a DE.
