Single Port and Dual Port Wastegates?
Umm, yeah. What's the difference? What does it all mean? I'm going to be buying a wastegate soon, and I guess Dual port is better, but I have no idea what it is. I figure it can't hurt to know this stuff before I go plopping down a few hundred dollars.

Dan:
He's saying the only one that sells a single port is the dealer (although Lindsey sells a rebuild factory unit for stock classes). ALL TiAL's are dual port. The single port bleeds more boost earlier, particularly if the spring is weak, due to it's construction.

Yes, all real wastegates are dual port. Our cars came with clowngates and some guys think this was to keep them slower than the 930.

From what i hear the 944 Turbo was 4th fastest production car in its time and the 911 Turbo was 3rd but not by much. Porsche isnt gonna make there flagship car slower than any of there other cars. i heard years ago that the 944 Turbo actually outperformed the 911 Turbo but then Porsche detuned the cars so they wouldnt. I have no idea if that is true but i can see how it could be.

Actually the 88 951S or 89 951 were considered by Porsche to be the fastest production car to date at that time. It had the same 0-60 as the 930 but a higher top speed. The 928 S4 had a higher top speed but was slower 0-60.
I have an article that PCA released back it the day somewhere on the introduction and first impressions of the 88 951S. I will have to see if I can find it, it is very complimentary of the 951.
