Default Oil Thermostat - running without

Hi, i want to remove the stock oil thermostat, and run with an external mocal 70 degree thermostat.

Can i just remove the sleeve and thermostat and leave it? Or du i need to plug the oem filterhouse?

the stock oil thermostat has a built in bypass passage.
some oil is always flowing through the cooler, even when cold. when the t-stat opens it just allows for full flow rather than a trickle.

if you wanted to run an external t-stat (why 70 degrees C, that seems very low for oil) you should be OK to remove the stock one entirely and just replace the cap on the housing.

oil flows to the cooler before the filter.

the "nipple" the filter threads on to is the "return to engine" passage after oil has been filtered.
