Default Oil filler relocate alternative option

Thought I'd share if it might help someone else...

Working on a new intake manifold. Been trying to work around the stock oil filler neck but mostly coming up with designs that may compromise equal flow or be equally choked.

in my large collection of random 944 parts i found the solution, an alternative to the $150 s-bend hose from Oklahoma. No cutting required, just 30 seconds with a small screwdriver.

this (left) is a 944S (87-88 2.5 16v) lower AOS can mated to a 944S2 top cap. A 951/944Na cap would work here as well, same dimensions but different barb location. On the right is a standard NA/s2 lower can.

Turbo guys would have to figure out plumbing for the turbo mount vent hose.

Have to find another place to pour oil in, but a cam cover port should suffice.

Well done sir! That’s a great solution using just stock parts.

I might be blind here, but how do you fill up the oil with the new box?

Isn't there an anti-drainback (check valve) in the cam tower? I guess there are other passages for it.

Only on the pressure side. Pouring oil in the cam box (thru the access plugs) would go down the drain holes to the pan

Default AOS units

Hopefully the S-2 unit that I recently bought on E-bay will work just as well. Not sure as to how the fill tube will play with the “ Black Hole” area. Time will tell. 😀
