I'm returning those noid lights!!!!

So folks, there you have it.

FAE sensor continuity issue confirmed. Thank you to everyone who has read, posted, and dropped by

Now what?

(I think this FAE sensor thing should be a "sticky" or receive some more profile. I am esp tempted to call the place I bought the new Bosch sensors and let this well-known fella know that it's not "hogwash". I will call the place I originally bought the FAEs from--a different, yet also well known place--just to bring the attention at least)

I can't believe that was it. It's surreal. I feel like I'm going to wake up and the car will just be sitting there, parked, ready to go... like nothing ever happened. I need a drink

[QUOTE=Amalgamated Tom;14947489That ref sensor signal was never right. If you are a glutton for punishment, hook up the o-scope now and I bet you'll get a nice clean ac sine wave....[/QUOTE]

What gets me is I switched the FAEs and *still* got the funny half-sine wave. Crazy weird. Maybe tomorrow I'll hook up the scope.. I am curious to see!

Or maybe I'll wake up and tonight never happened lol

Been watching this and picking up some good knowledge from your mishap, good to see everything is back in order for you! On the plus side, at least you know that every circuit you tested is good!

Great to see you got it running. But I'm guessing you won't see anything different on the scope with the good sensor vs bad if you're testing them open.

Mr. Martinic,

I'm very empathetic for your success in getting the car running. It was a huge relief when I finally got mine going and I'm guessing that you're feeling the same way now. I'm glad that it wasn't some other weird electrical gremlin preventing you from enjoying your car.

I think that you are 100% correct that the forums need some kind of sticky warning people about the FAE sensors. My car was down for a full year and I probably spent an unnecessary $1,000 on repairs (DME, KLR rebuilds, wiring harness replacement) and maybe a 1,000 hours of labor trying to figure out what was wrong--all because of some defective sensors.

Hopefully, these treads will prevent anyone else from suffering through this ridiculous problem.

Congrats! Glad to see it start!!!! And it turns out it was something you changed... Now I will toss my Fae sensors on the shelf and order bosh because I'm converting my car back to motronic from a standalone.....

Congrats!
The Ref signal at the DME plug will look exactly like the Porsche signal diagram. I tested mine after my saga, although I have new FAE sensors, (must not have the shield shorting). Treat just like a baby; No tach bounce, DME relay, Ref sensor, send out DME for rebuild,...

On the NOID light, remember the 944 injectors are different impedance, so lower volts than required to light the NOID.
