enough is enough?
you ever get to a point where you wish you had less down time / hadn't modified a car much / at all, and just want to drive the damned thing?
(god knows i got to that point MONTHS ago, but it's esp. painful watching a friend drive his new S2000, another friend with his TT, and i'm sitting here in my daily-driver Honda Element... not a bad car but def. absolutely NOTHING sporty about it. at least it's 5speed. i'd have SHOT myself long ago if i'd been driving an automatic all of this time).

I guess I've been lucky, my 951 has been really reliable, even with day to day abuse. Let's hope I didn't just jinx myself, the 2.8L block is being installed as we speak. The 2.8L record hasn't been too good on here.

Yup, been out nearly 2 years myself! Thats why I got fed up and shipped mine to a reputable 944 guy (ian @ 944online) and just told him he had a year to fix everything while I was in Iraq!

Hey dmoffitt – I never noticed that you were in Rochester before- I ma just over in Syracuse – if you ever feel like getting together to talk turbo let me know. I have a pretty well equipped shop if you would like some assistance on your project (lift, machining equip, bead blaster, powder coating equip, MIG & Tig welding…)
To answer your original post - sometimes even two is not enough...I have the track car, street car and the alway dependable (non modified) S2 cab for the wife.
I look at our long winters as the perfect time to do a lot of mods / preventitive maintence. That way I don't feel like I am missing much!

My name is Luis and I am a boostaholic too, my current 951 I have owned for over a year now and have drove the car for less than 6 weeks. the rest of the time, the car has been in the mechanic's shop. As we speak, I am waiting for an engine that I had paid in full over 6 weeks ago and still no delivery. For some reason(Christmas I guess) I bought some more accessories for my car that is not running (why spend more money on a car that is not running NUTS) can someone help plz. I would like to buy a harness bar a racing seat and a roll cage, my wife says if I do that we will definitely come out in TV’s “DIVORCE COURT”

You are not alone... 5000 miles on a fresh motor and it's back apart with a pesky internal coolant leak. Grrr... Downtime sucks, but when you finally get it going, it's the best reward.
I think half of the fun of owning our cars is turning the wrenches. If mine ran perfect all the time, I think I would get tired of it and go buy something that would need attention.
Chris, I could not have said it better.
