Hey,
I'm thinking of buying a pair of Europroducts chips for an '86-'88 Turbo and wanted to see if anyone has had good/bad experiences with the company or with any of their 944/951 products.
I've only been able to find two people talk about their chips, one saying they were so-so, the other really liking them. I also heard from another person that they were knock-offs from another chip manufacturer. Besides these 3 comments, they seem to be out of the spotlight. Any scoop on them and their products??
Thanks,
Kevin

The previous owner installed a set of Europroducts DME/KLR chips in my 88 951 and I was very pleased with how the car performed. I didn't really have a basis for before and after comparisons since I only drove the "after" version.
However, I saw reports here on the Rennlist by people that tested them out on a dyno, and they said the fuel mixture tended to lean out a bit with these chips at high RPM. Since I track my car a lot I decided to replace them this past summer with Guru chips. I immediately noticed I was picking up about 5mph more at the end of straightaways with the Guru chips compared to my speeds with the Europroducts.
I think the Europroducts chips are a good value considering how inexpensive they are, but if you can afford to spring a few extra $$ I'd recommend getting the Guru chips.

Its been my experience that all chips have lean or rich spots. Only way to work out the problem is with dyno time to find those spots and custom burn chipsand tune out the problems.

Not two motors are alike and when companys burn chips for certian cars they usually burn them for stock engines and engines with certain mods. when you buy chip meant for a stock engine and you mod it for more power the power curve shifts and the program needs to be modified to meet the new needs of the motor.
a example would be buying chips for a stock motor with 11psi max boost @ 6200RPM but you modded your engine and now it makes 14psi max boost @6200RPM. Now you can see your engine needs more fuel for the extra 3psi of boost and you would run lean at 6200RPM.
Another example that has plaqued many people is that there chips the baught before modding were set to make 11psi max boost @ 6100RPM but there modded engine no makes 18psi max boost @6800RPM and they have a huge lean spot and also a rich spot down low.
Its all about dyno time, tuning, dyno time, and more tuning. Alot of people spend thousands on power goodies and expect everything to be tuned.

If anyone is interested, I have a set of guru chips for sale. Will fit 86&87 cars. They are about four months old and work perfectly. Comes with chips, 3.0 bar FPR, and wastegate shims. Reliaboost ($35) is not included. Best offer over $165 takes them home. I can ship them out on Monday so there is no need to wait forever from Guru and you can save $100.

I had Europroducts for about 2 years in my 951.
Definitely an improvement over stock, but ran rich & was borderline on emission testing. Recently changed to Guru & they're much better.
