Default Darton MID sleeves

Anyone running Darton MID sleeves? Was thinking of going this route for a hybrid stroker build. Looks like you can go to 106mm bore. They seem a little more expensive than dry sleeves but I think there's benefits with the integrated deck.

I run the 106mm in the RP968. They need to be installed by someone with experience of them.

I've heard that there are issues, but not much specific. They
seem to be pretty reliable options in other set-ups, including high hp/liter builds; what is the issue here? Deck perpendicular to bore(s)?

The Rage2 car has 106mm dry sleeves. The sleeves look to be in pretty decent shape even with the hole in the block where the rod went out the side

They were a Rolls Royce sleeve from what I have read. Not sure where one would source them now to get the same sleeve again.

If anything wouldn't wet sleeves be potentially WORSE for moving around than the stock barrels?
Since they are jammed in place with some o-rings for sealing the water above from the oil below, and not connected at the top like in a 3.0 944 block?

Since they aren’t connected to the block like the factory cylinders I guess you could say they aren’t as secure, but so long as the installation is done properly, there really shouldn’t be any issues. And while not physically connected to each other at the top, they are pretty secure with how they fit into the block, and against each other.

The biggest issue is installing them properly. I only know that Chris White and i think Michael Mount knows how to install these properly. Might be a few others, but there has been plenty of issues when others have just installed the.

Here are some Rolls Royce Merlin sleeves installed, nothing to do with your post but just for the awesome engineering. World War II technology lives 75 years on.

So far there have been zero failures for the sleeves that I personally installed.

Not true, I have one of your blocks had to put new pistons in it so all I had to do was hone it to get it to live again. I cannot keep it from blowing headgaskets. @ only 14 psi of boost ..thre other issues with it which is why I ended up with it and the original purchaser went ls3 I'm working on getting them resolved.
