Default Starts, then no start

Hi - car was at shop and started (I was there). Went to pick it up later after oil change and car won't start. Has spark and fuel pressure. Mechanic checks injector and says no pulses - he says can only be DME. Really? Could it be the relay if I have fuel pressure? Mechanic is a friend and very trustworthy but not a Porsche or 944 expert. Suggestions?

wierd that without even moving I lost injector signal - engine just installed and has run only a few minutes total. Have M-tune which has functioned fine until now.

It could be a bad fuel injector harness. Or a bad ground.

Speed and reference sensors?
to test them do this:
the DME relay can be jumpered to test. If DME relay is good and speed/reference sensors are good then the ECU is suspect.

True, I have replaced countless injector harnesses for no start and intermittent no start on turbo 944's. If the engine has just been installed then that harness got wiggled and jiggled enough to cause it to fail for sure.

As others have stated, most likely reference sensors. If they are not functioning properly, DME is a no fire condition, thus no injectors.

So how would there be spark?

if the speed and reference sensors check out then I would look at the injector harness. peel back the boots at the plug ends and I bet you will see they are shorted out and corroded.

Just change the DME relay first. Do the basic first before you get further to the complicated approach.
