Default Car hesitates and bucks on acceleration. Likely culprit?

Engine recently installed. Idles a bit rough. On accelerating the car hesitates and won't take throttle. Does not rev smoothly. What are my most likely problems? Car is at mechanic and I'm trying to speed process. Thanks

What all did you do to the engine while it was out? Have you inspected your DME recently? What all have you checked so far?

Check your timing belt position and check for vacuum leaks.

I haven't checked anything as the car has never been in my possession since getting the engine and having it installed. I was really hoping it would be ready to go to the track for some shakedown and break-in time but the mechanics haven't figured out why it isn't running right and I thought maybe knowing the leading culprits would help. It they can't figure it out I'll start trying to figure it out myself if I can avoid the urge to push the car into a deep ravine.

Chk the throttle position sensor to see if its 2 screws have allowed it to move. If yes locate it back into its correct position

Intercooler couplers may not be tight? Or any one of the intake couplers. MAF may be faulty, broken wire? TPS faulty?

For the sake of posterity, it ended up being the sensor gap was too large and the DME wasn't getting a consistent signal. I'm told it is supposed to be 0.8mm but was 2.0mm. Now running fine. I know there are 2 sensors and I'm not sure which one is the culprit but it is now fixed. Thanks for the input.
