Strange that they would use different part number when the size is the same.
You measured the ID, OD and thickness correct? I know it lists 22 X 27 but a don't have one with me right now to measure thickness.
I will add thickness when I am at home. I have them next to each other in a parts drawer.

i looked up the PN and found something interesting the other day.
the dimensions of the ring are the same as those on the oil pan drain plug but they carry different part numbers, i wonder what the difference is ?
to be honest, i actually used two such oil pan rings that i had laying around.

the fittings i had on the car with my "old" cooler setup were o-ring face seals so i didn't have an "old" crush ring to measure.
looks good, that is a late S2/968 type housing?

Once you try that Loctite 545 you'll surely keep it handy forever. It works beautifully on any threaded fitting - fuel, oil or whatever - even when the threads are boogered.
Welding on the filter housing may work out fine, BUT, beware of warping the housing from the heat. I've thrown away several over the years that were warped from engine overheating and I couldn't line up the housing with the line-up tool. I would imagine heat from the TIG could cause the same issue.
