I will be upgrading to the Split Second MAF kit very soon. The controller (PSC1-004) is made specifically for replacing AFM based systems.

There is one other user here that has used this setup, however he ended up using the PSC1-003 model which has more of a universal application. The folks at Split Second told me that the -004 unit has much more resolution on systems that replace the AFM and should be used on our cars.

Also, the system is laptop programmable and has Windows based tuning software. Some of the features are: datalogging, 3D map tables of MAF signal & RPM, elevation compensation and timing control if wanted. The unit can be ordered with the "data acquisition" feature that will accept (I believe) 3 channels of 0-5v inputs (wideband o2, TPS, ect.)

Coming from the Link AFM MAP setup and it's software (Dos based,) I am excited about going to a more user friendly and more capable Windows environment.

I believe that this system offers much of the same, if not more, of the features that comparable MAF kits offer ie Perfect Power SMT6 or Power Perfect Pro-M controllers.

I will post some feedback once I have the kit installed.

Split Second's price sheet says $340.00 for the control unit.

The description on their site doesn't mention the data acquistion feature or the timing option but these options are added to the box if you want them.

I will be getting the complete kit from Tim at SFR. A special thanks to Tim for all his help and for giving me a such a killer deal on the MAF kit.

I will hopefully see the stuff shortly after the Turkey day holiday.

I am using the split second -003 unit with a Autothority MAF and Guru chips. The standard software for all the PSC1 has the data logging built in. The -003 unit is $235.00. The 004 ads a temperature input (maybe it adds more aux channels that can be logged as well). I used the -003 unit because I wanted to wire the temperature sensor into the DME as it uses temperature info for cold start. I also have a Tech edge wide band that I used to help get everything set up. The -003 unit has 800 cells (1Krpm step X .025 volt step). I have been working on tuning and now have it pretty dialed in. With the tech edge I go out to the freeway and make a full throttle run from 2K to redline. This data is logged from the techedge (a/f and rpm). I then pull the file into excel and use the graphing tools. A run from 2K to redline will generate something like 600-800 data points. I also log the data from the PSC1 and then cross reference the voltage input and RPM (I could have wired all this into the tech edge).I have started holding my foot on the brake to get even better resolution lately. I do not know how one would tune with out logging the data from something like a tech edge or spend a lot of time on the dyno.

Todd, they are using a generic MAF sensor (I believe it to be a Ford unit but it might be a Pro-M). Huntley no longer sells their items (at least that is what SS told me when I talked to them last). All you need is a tuning module, MAF sensor, a few couplers, and someone to make some pipe for you.

Ok, thanks Matt. Thats what I was thinking.

My only concern with going universal, is how adaptable it will be to our cars and how much I will have to do just by trial and error. If it is only a couple hundred bucks more to get a kit that is specifically for our cars with customer support, I might have to go that route.

So you can use any type of maf sensor as long as it fits?? i.e. Ford, Toyota, etc. And just the tuning modules???

You ideally would match your MAF size to the size of turbo/engine you are running. As you can imagine the different companies run different size MAF wires for different applications.
