Rear Brake Problems '83 944
So, I just recently bought my 944. I'm currently changing the timing belt/balance belt/ water pump, and that's all going great, the problem I'm having is with the brakes.
When I got the car, the left-rear caliper was seized up. I pulled both rear calipers off with the intention of changing them out entirely. I wasn't going to mess about with pulling the pistons out and changing the seals. I looked and looked and the best thing I could find were these:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Reman-A-1-Ca...%7CModel%3A944
When I got them, I realized that the piston itself was massive, much larger than the OEM piston was. The trouble was, it fit into the caliper housing just fine, but when I tried to slide the second half of the housing over it, the piston was too big to push through the hole.
Is there any way I can modify the calipers to fit? Is there somewhere that I can get just the OEM piston housings? I've searched and searched, but these were the only things I could find that were remotely close to what I needed.
I'm relatively new to working with brakes and I'm looking for the easiest, cheapest way to fix this. Help ASAP would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

Allegedly the later model rear calipers are a direct fit ..Not being able to find any for my'83 I sent mine to Gold line brakes out in Seattle for a total rebuild. Since the price for new ones was quite high (to me) I opted for this...cost was about 225 shipped back to New Hampshire..came back with all the nylon guides and good hardware..clearcoat paint on them to prevent rust. Mine were two rusty lumps that were beat up and totally seized with rubber seals hanging off. I am pleased with the work that he did..Not installed yet...Thanks.

Thanks, guys! I was actually able to find the correct piston housing after many hours of research and just ordered it! I've reassembled the passenger side caliper with the old piston and will do the same with the driver's side when the new one comes.
