Yearly Maintenence Costs

I was told to expect about $1,000 per year in maintenance costs. That’s after the car has been brought up to snuff, bringing it up to snuff can be much more expensive.
Since I have been “upgrading” my car since I have owned it, I have been spending probably around twice that per year.

I've had my 85 1/2 944 for 17 years and 95K miles and have spent approx. $5k (1K of which was to fix an earlier repair). Most of the expense was for new engine seals that leaked and air conditioning. Outside of normal service (oil, tires, etc.). I've had no repairs in 4 years except for a heater control switch.

I've had my '88 S for just over 2 years and have probably spent £3,000 on servicing and repairs, excluding tyres. This includes £700 for head gasket and front seals, £300 for a new AFM and £400 for a water pump.
Not the cheapest car to run I've ever had, but it's probably only depreciated by a £1000 or so over that time so evens out overall.
Either way I don't regret it.
Cheers,

I feel the same way about mine sometimes, but a clutch for a Ford Mondeo costs more than that and I know which I'd rather have!

We purchased our 1990 S2 with 130,000 miles on the odometer. I have spent about $2700 over the 18 months I have owned the car. This includes all preventive maintenance, tires, and preparation for driver education. My son and I do most of the work ourselves and get a very good deal on Porsche OEM parts via mail order.
It has been a great car!

Every once in a while I add up the costs of repairs (ones that I have done and shops) for the last 12 months.
Right now I am at $123.46 per month. That is a lot less than a new car. Plus my insurance is a lot cheaper than on a new car!!
So between $1000 - $1500 sounds right to estimate.
Also fyi, my car typically needs a major component [never the engine though ] every 6 months.
Hope that helps,
David
