anyone ever dropped a lexus v8 in the 944 bay
i am seeing if anyone else has ever tried the lexus v8 in the bay,to see where the sump sits etc...and how large it is in the bay on the 944...i dont think there is anyone that has made a clutch and adapter plate combo...have had an offer of someone in the usa to help make one...but i am a bit worried about giving wrong measurements etc etc...other idea was to fab the front and rear complete subframe units in(a freind is a coded welder and makes race car chassis etc...)this would then give discs front and rear and massive brakes etc...but could be classed as extreme...anyway all replies welcome...cheers...

While there are plenty of purists that would tell you the same thing as William (not muppet), there are also a great deal of pure car/racing enthusiasts that will chop their cars to bits in ways that makes purists cringe.
In the end, its your car and you can do whatever it is that you want with it. If you want to take on a crazy project that will likely drain your money and leave you with little to show for it, go right ahead.
If its power you're after, I would advise you to go with an LS swap. Not quite sure why you would go for a company/engine with little to no tuners working on it. If there is something else on your agenda like luxury or an incredibly smooth pulling engine, I'd say you invested in the wrong platform.
But, like I said, this is your car and you can do with it as you please. I wouldn't mind sticking around to see how this works out.

toyota v8's are a popular swap down this way whereas the LS# not so much. I have seen 4 hi ace vans with v8's in the last 2 weeks alone. A friend just sold his s/c v8 toyota caldina, bought by another on my local forum. 2 friends are building toyota v8 utes, one of which just got certified. These and the nissan VH4# engines have been getting very popular for jet boat sprint racing this last decade.
i would consider it if I ever blow my engine. But i would have to weigh it up with the LS1 having been done so extensively before whereas not so for the toyota.

The Lexus V8 fits. The adapter plate wouldn't be too crazy to design and replicate. The BH to pilot dimensions have to be a known as well as the BH/trans mating face to clutch finger distance, the rest is a no brainer as the 1uzfe BH is concentric to the shaft.

The factory headers can easily be modded too.....

Got the billet stock needed set up and programming the adapter. I'm taking it one step further and adding a recess/step so the same adapter can be extended with a flange to install the 1uzfe, 2uz, or 3uz in the 928 as well....all a bolt-on affair....
Not only the 4.0, but the 4.7, 5.4, and 5.7 DOHC V8's can be swapped with this set-up........

It'll fit. Just like the LS swap, you'll need to delete the vac booster or use a hydroboost adapter.
