Got a nice S2 1989, front struts question
Hi.
Got one here in Montreal, red, sport seats, 97 000km, 3 owners.
Looking to replace the front struts...
Been told they are Sachs right?
Tiiming belt was done at 96 000km last summer.
Thanks!

There are three possibilities.
1: Stock Sachs Strut
2: Koni M474 Sealed (non-adjustable struts)
3: Koni M030 adjustable struts.
The easy way to tell which one you have is to check the option sticker in the back of your car (you need to unbutton the hatch carpet.) If your sticker says 474 or 030 you have koni's. If it has neither you have Sachs struts.
Regardless of what you have, if you want to convert to Koni's, Paragon sells the inserts (you have to cut up your original strut assembly in the car, not difficult.) I would choose this over the Sachs struts (they are more sporty and less expensive.)

Hi - if you have Koni struts - they can be rebuilt - you don't have to replace them. If you want the M030 Koni - you really should change the steering knuckles and sway bar to M030 parts also. Finally - if you want to use the Koni inserts as an upgrade - these inserts ONLY work with the standard Sachs struts - you can't use the inserts in 474 or 030 struts.

Turbo struts will fit but you will have to put turbo springs on with them. At least I had to with my 91 S2 Cab as the stock springs are a slightly conical shape. Not sure about the 90 though as I know that some of the stuff on the 91 was different.
Really need to do a 94 GTG in Montreal have seen quite a few people posting about them lately!
