Default 944 supercharging

Does anyone know of how the 2.5L 944's have held up to supercharging. I know there are some out there. I like my 944 which I have had for 20 years so (I do not want to buy a Turbo). Another 75HP would be great. Heck if the price was right I would be tickled to death with another 40 or 50 HP if the price was reasonable, maybe somwhere around $3000. The kits that I have seen were more in the $6000 range. I also worry about putting to much HP into drivetrain that was not designed for it, so that is why I want to keep it modest and cheap. Any ideas.

hi,
i have manage to make a setup for my n/a 944 ...plenty of power with 11 compression ration ..and at 0.7bar ...but the problem was that i could not set up the air-fuel mixture so took it off...probably a stand alone system would do the job but my budget for this ended. you can find allot of readings regarding to this modification .it can be done with allot less then 6000$

IIRC, N/A transmission has been rated for 250ft-lbs of torque. It's torque that kills transmissions/transaxles, not horsepower... I'm putting down 325 ft-lbs to the wheels and my n/a transaxle is holding up well. I've put 18k miles on it in the past 2 years, and I am playful (not abusive) with the car. 5th gear has a little bit of syncrho whining, possibly since that's one of the few gears where I've gone WOT a lot... But it all is still holding up longer than expected.

Make sure the fluid in the trans. is fresh, let the gearbox warm up before you play with it, avoid clutch dumping, and keep the drag racing to a minimum and you should be fine.

Do you know how to make your 944 NA fast? Buy my 951 that has a mildly dinged up front end and fix it or swap everything into your 944 and make it a turbo sleeper. Just my $0.02

You could use the DIY tuning solution I released here:

It is an electric fan that fits in the air intake. It has a switch that allows you to turn it off and on. Supposed to force air into the intake. They sell them on e-bay. Would be nice to hear if they actually work.

Not tried them, but I know they don't work. You would need a very powerful electric motor to generate the required pressure, which would take a lot of room and require a very large power generation source (the alternator wouldn't come close).
