Does anyone have a "how to" on how this system works? I suspect I need to somehow adjust the cable, but I am completely at a loss. I just finished repairing the convertible top bow that had snapped and many of the top components and seals which he used foam household weather stripping to seal the car. I love the car and it kills me how people really take so many short cuts and cheap-out instead of doing it right. It's almost always less expensive to do it right in the beginning then fix it later on. Thanks!

i put '90 cabrio away for the looong Iowa winter. But, I have my '87 Turbo project to keep me warm! If I am lucky I will be trying for first start in 15 years this weekend. Just waiting on a new FPR and a radiator plug. This car was sitting in a temp controlled storage locker since November 2004. Hauled out due to divorce (not mine!) and now in a "moderate" renovation. Wish me luck guys!

Remember when I said "if I am lucky?" I am not. I came home Friday and found all 3 gallons I had fueled the car with last week all over the garage floor. If you know your Porsche fuel tank- there is an "in tank fine strainer" that screws into a threaded aluminum collar that was (and should be still!) rotomolded into the tank (post 85.5 models). The PO had ripped this out in an effort to remove a really stuck strainer (guys- caution here- Steve Manfre at 944 online says this is a common problem). I tried epoxying it back in with fuel-safe marine epoxy. It held for a week. I had prepped the surface etc, but no luck. Fortunately I have access to a spare tank with the collar still in, so you all you what this means! Out exhaust, trans axle, etc over the holidays! t

I took the plunge and bought a 1990 944 S2 Cab with 176,000 miles on it. Car is in good shape and well maintained with all service records. I have gotten the following done using a good Porsche mechanic.
Balancer shaft belt replaced
Four wheel alignment performed
Front strut(s) replaced
Oil and filter changed
Oil pan gasket replaced (had an oil leak)
Power steering fluid flushed/changed
Power steering hose(s)/line(s) replaced
Rear strut(s)/insert cartridge(s) replaced
Safety inspection performed
Shifter bushings replaced
Shifter cable replaced
Shifter cables adjusted
Timing belt replaced

Will be working on the following:
Spark plugs and wires
Hood pads
Air Filter
Paint Chips

Thinking about doing:
LED light conversion (exterior and interior)
Rear spoiler
Alloy Rims

Any thoughts in keeping the car ALL original or doing modifications?

Thanks

I am envious- my Cabrio does not have the convertible cover (boot?)! And every time I get $300 to buy one, I find something else broken that costs almost exactly $300! Good luck! Hey, that looks just like an Iowa winter!

looks really nice!! Don't see cam chain tensioner pads in your list. Have they been checked / changed recently that you know. This is an important thing to make sure of because when they fail pieces of your motor get relocated in undesireable ways.

Installed 988RS upper strut mounts. It FINALLY got rid of a knock at the front when I would do a full wheel stop turn. I've had that issue for 20 years. lol

Only thing is, it raised my car a few mm's and I don't like it. As a result, I'm fighting vanity and trying to not purchase a GC coiler kit so I an lower front back to where it was.

yes, I know it sounds terrible, but oh well. I like projects.

Looks like you are getting the cab in top shape and enjoying it. Glad it went to someone who cares for it. It is a shame when one of these beautiful cars are not maintained and get run down. The tensioner pad was changed at 100k and should be replaced every 100k. Did you ever figure out what that terrible noise was?

Finished the turbo rebuild and as long as I was in the mood, put a donor non-split TT into my ‘90 cabrio to get rid of an annoying vibration in the shifter. Success!
