Default LSD option code 220....where?

It's been said that it's in the hatch.....where specifically is it? I already gutted the interior....I hope I didn't throw away the trim piece or whatever the sticker was on.

can someone tell me where it is exactly or provide pic of

one more question. what's the name of the part that goes into the center of the ... I think these are stock wheels. i want to say it's a center cap for covering the lug nuts and hub. it's like a giant hex head. 3 of the wheels have the metal kind where I use that big alum hex tool. but one of them is plastic. i'm being picky and want to find a replacement.

know what i'm talking about?

Krystar,
The options are listed on a piece of paper glued to the rear wall. That only means the car was BUILT with an LSD. Jack up the car's rear end and spin a tire by hand. If the other wheel spins the same direction, it still has the LSD. If it spins the other direction, it's an open diff.

Can the LSD clutch plates wear enough to "act" like an open diff? I just bought an 85.5 with op code 220and it acts open. I'm tearing out the interior right now for the full Spec / ITS meal deal...

I think the wear answer is YES....FYI...my S2 did not show 220...but has (which is on a bench in my mechanic's shop right now) an LSD tranny. It's apparently not THAT uncommon to have one in a car without the 220 code.

That’s what I thought.

I haven't yet checked the trans code to make sure it's original but the rebuild kits are a lot cheaper then those shinny Guard LSD's.

Right, Lyall.
You never know what you're going to get because you don't know what the car's been through. If I rob the short 5th out of a 924S and sell it as a street car with a tall 5th, I mark the tranny with a magic marker.

I understand there's some 944's up there in the rainforest with you. If you don't know about the 944 spec rules, check them out. I think they're better than the 944 cup rules because they're cheaper and the cars are more equal. We all start out with the 944/924S cars at the same weight.

Thanks Tim.

It sure is rainy out

Great garage weather too. I'll be ripping out the interior of my 85.5 while watching the Seahawks game. Car goes to Greg’s shop next week and he has all the relevant GCR's.

Looking forward to racing a car that weighs the same as my 930 but has 250rwhp less!

You'll be suprised how much fun it is, and more, how little it costs to run!
