Default A/C delete

I am looking to delete the A/C from my 1989 944S2.
Other than the special bracket and belt, are there any parts that I need? Can someone give a source and part numbers for the bracket and belt? Are there any directions available so I do not miss anything?

also a question:

why must a special bracket need to be purchased for the AC delete, why not just use the stock one and just bolt the AC off of it?

I understand that when you take off the compressor, the Alternator needs a new bracket and a new shorter belt.

If it's like the motor in my 85/2, you'd need something to adjust the belt.....the adjustment is done with the A/C compressor (bottom mounting point).

I don't know why you'd need to change other brackets...having just taken my A/C compressor off, it seems like the right bracket to bolt into where the compressor used to go with an appropriate pulley would do the job just fine.

The Sep-2006 issue of Excellence had a 944 A/C delete article by Gerry Burger.

Lindsey Racing will sell you kit with everything. Drops alot of weight and the Bracket is much smaller than the CS version that was available for Cars' without AC. I think the Mouting bolts are a little shorter too. You can pull like 80lbs when it's all out! Or about 1 HP / 6lbs equal gains.

the entire front of car a/c system weights 31 lb

the stock non-ac bracket weights 6lb

the interior section a/c components weigh 15lb

not quite 80 but you get the idea.

Burger (in the Excellence article) saw a net weight savings of 26-lbs after removing the underhood components (compressor, condensor, etc.).

This agrees with fork_included

And another note is that the S2 PWR is roughly 15-lbs/bhp.

So a saving of 26-lbs is roughly equal to 2-bhp bump.

Does that include the hoses and hard lines, bleeders, compressed gas, AC blower, Wires, Relays, Fusses, & mounting??

Sorry guys, if it's only 76.45678582615 lbs. As was said.. your get the point. It's definitely a big Garbage Can Full, and a nice mod for mild climates.

The 1hp/6lbs equal; I recently read from some solid guys. Don’t have the source but I guess it depends on your starting weight 2700 Vs 3400 lbs.

I think the post was asking about sources... so you Can add Paragon Products to my previous.
Hope your Delete cleans up your bay, and quickens your ride.

i'm looking at the cast bracket....

since the laternator mounting point does not change... what would happen if you were to cut the bracket in half! it seems like a solid design and if it is hollow in the one section i wouldnt think structural integrity would be affected much.
