Default shipping an S2 across country can you help find a shipper?

I am going to Florida this weekend to possibly buy an '89 944S2. If all works out well, I will need to ship the car back to northern California. I haven't got a clue how to find a good shipper and need to know how much it is going to cost me before I leave Friday. The most important thing is not to have any troubles or damage to the vehicle. I don't want to have to worry!
If you have been this route before, can you please share your advice and experiences with me?
Thanks, Scott

You may want to get several quotations. I would try the company eBay shows on their website: DAS (IIRC). Also, Horseless Carriage is known to be a 'good carrier' I believe; and check 'Panorama' (PCA magazine) and 'Excellance' magazine for advertisers. Lastly, there may be advertisers here on Rennlist hat may provide that service or may be able to advise you . Good Luck, I bought my S2 last July and drove it from Virginia to Florida.

Check the 993 or 996 forum for a thread on DAS -- there doesn't seem to be any real customer service from them in that thread.

Runnin' on empty,
I bought the car! Same color as your's and black interior.
Still need to find a good recommendation for a reliable shipper. Rates are all over the place. From $850 to $2300!!!!!!!!!!! Scott

which ever one you use, make sure you have insurance before shipping. I've heard of some pretty horrible things happening (like cars not getting tied down). We just shipped a motorcycle to Minnasota from Sacramento and it cost the buyer $500. I'd expect to pay in the $1000 range for a car.

Ccongrats ROOEND, InterCity seems like a reliable vendor as well, look forward to seeing some pics!

It's a good color, hides everyday dust pretty well, and remains fairly cool in direct sun.

You've probably already shipped but DAS did an excellent job shipping a Jag I purchased on eBAY from Baltimore to SD.

Thanks guys! I wound up going with Intercity. They took a little off the price because they could only come to Santa Rosa ( about 200 miles away). Now that's my kind of road trip!
Of course, I can't wait! Scott
