Default Heat shield for fuel lines???

Has anyone heard of an aftermarket heat shield that might protect the fuel lines in the engine compartment from the exhaust headers? I wrapped mine in fiberglass banding then metal tape in an effort to keep them a little cooler. Not sure if it helps. Or is this a terrible idea?

There are optional wraps or shielding for replacement lines from Lindsey Racing and others. I view it more as a cosmetic item than anything. Yes the lines could potentially absorb heat from the exhaust, but there is also a cooling effect of the fuel passing through the lines. I think that if it was important to shield them, Porsche would have.

Never, originally Porsche used a rubber hose as a sleeve to protect the fuel line...it makes a lot of sense. You could also go that route. I use a fire sleeve, similar to GPA. It makes sense to protect the line, especially since the turbo engine bay gets hot and if you park it with the hood closed...you get the picture. When I park mine in the garage, I actually open the hood to let the engine cool down...

On hot days, I have actually had my gas boil in my track car, from the heat it picked up through the engine compartment. And mine is an early car with the fuel lines coming from the other side. I don't remember where I picked up my fuel line wraps. It was either Summit Racing or JEGS.
