Question 951 oil cooler on 944 early NA...?

Have the major parts but need some help finding how/where to mount the cooler. Pictures will help this ADHD neophyte mechanic.

also... Any comments on installing (having installed by professional) 27MM torsion bars to match my 250lb. (Weltmeister?) front springs? Application is a daily driver, auto-X, DE car... Bilsteins, boxed steel arms, strut brace, 0 engine mods. I'll post in the water cooler section, too.

Thanks in advance!

I have done this on several cars. I race an na in I class. You will need to drop the whole rear suspension to take out the oem bars. Grind off the caps on the torsen bar covers so that you can see the end of the new bars. Are they hollow? Reinstall the assembly with your best guess for ride hieght. Once in, you can raise the trailing arms to relieve press on the bars, pull them out enough to release the inner splines, move the arms to the desired height and slowly turn the bars, pushing them in until the splines mesh. You can set the rear ride hieght to any place you want with this simple proceedure without ever having to drop the rear suspension again. Makes it easy to corner wieght too. I have 28mm hollow and would go to 30 if had to do again. I know this is a thin description but would welcome a call if you want all the details. I also do the Kiss oil cooler kits so might be able to answer oil questions too.

I recently helped a friend tear apart a 951 parts car. I was after the cooler my self. If I remember right, the 951 has a specific place for it in the front bumper in front of the radiator. With a non turbo front, you are going to have to fabricate everything for mounting. Best place is in the middle of the radiator in front as low as possible. Since I have not seen my 944 in months I'm going from memory, but I'm pretty sure you have to cut away part of the bumper to fit.

Hacker - got a pic of your set-up? any dimensions on your fabbed pieces?

and trymorris - my new bars are 27mm solid. The car's a daily driver gradually being pushed toward the autocross/track scene so, for now, I don't think I want to leave the torsion bar caps open to corrosion. When I get the collector car or garage queen I'll take the ol' 944 off the road and give it a trailer ride to the track.

This is the kind of info I was looking for - thanks.

Sorry about that, I didn't explain very well. 944s threw a rod bearing november 2001.
Engine is out
Doner short block is on the engine stand
928 became a bigger priority. I have not even started installing the cooler. I was just thinking about how I was (am) going to do it.

I have seen a stock turbo oil cooler installed behind the right front fog light. Fabrication was needed to mount the cooler as well as removal of the fog light and creating a hole for air flow. This was done to a race car.

m758 - I've heard of that, too, and I think that's where I'm headed. I'm not the most mechanically inclined and my mechanic said he'd help me with this.

thanks
