Quiet drive

Condolences to you and your family. I just watched the Top Gear episode a couple days ago where Clarkson drove a 928 and his memory of a 928 during a family tragedy. Made me think about how these cars can be very therapeutic.

I'd forgotten that my car was called Elsie by its previous owner, after his late mother. He bought it with the money she left him, and was clearly reluctant to sell it on, even after 15 years.
Cars are important. Take comfort in anything you can.

Sorry for the loss.
I lost my crazy smart precious metal refining uncle last year, my mom in 2012 and grams (both grandmothers actually) several plus years before that. My one grams had a really funny foul mouth (which I found amusing for mid 90's year of age), but took her grocery shopping every Saturday in Mission Viejo, CA. No problem grams, lets go to market, nursery for flowers and her other miscellaneous errands.
If you don't mind I'll share a pic of me lighting some candles for grams on her birthday! She was great too.
Try to recall the good times.

Ah, JD, firstly, so sorry about your Mum.
Both my parents, are into their early 80s, and well 'ish but both have niggly health issues as one may expect.
I thought at first it inappropriate that I should offer my condolences to you as I am on the other side of the world, unknown personally, and heaven forbid a noob...
...Until my Dad said something today when I brought him back home from visiting my mum at the rest home where she is temporarily staying whist he recovers from major surgery, yes he is a fit old b##&a!! and she could be at home with us now, however he wants some space!!! go figure.
Anyway, he said:
"Steve, when the sh$t hits the fan and I am that close to the end, please take me for a quiet drive in your Porsche"
I immediately thought of your thread and reflected on your "drive".
Again, my thoughts are with a Rennlist friend.
