Default Headlight bar slides left and right an inch

MY drivers side headlight bucket is rubbing the fender opening on the outside edge going up and down.

I found a post that indicates the bucket assembly can adjust left and right by loosing the two clamp bolts on the rod accessed under the hood.

I loosened those bolts and pried the assembly a part a bit, applied liberal dose of Kroll and went to slide the bucket side bar into the main bar and the entire bar assembly and other headlight slide to the left a good inch.

I don't see a lock type mechanism other than friction to hold that bar.

is this normal and is this the way to adjust one headlight later position in the opening?

Each Headlight assembly can move independently I believe.

Usually this occurs due to a missing/misplaced alignment bracket.

It is the black plastic curved piece with a slot for the crossbar tab to sit in, that prevents the bar from sliding. Located on the driver side, just above the headlight turning motor.

Thanks Randy. I do not have one of those installed

How is it mounted to the car?

That resolves the lateral travel issue. Still not sure how I adjust the individual head light buckets left to right once the overall rod is locked down.

Got a PET and had looked at the parts breakout but parts floating on a white page don't always help nail down precise installation method.

BTW You misspelled dude.

Thanks for the helpful responses.

Jim,

I am up country atm, I will take some detailed pics for you when I get back in the next day or so, unless this prompts someone else to do likewise.

So the pivot bracket has two threaded inserts molded in and two 10mm bolts run thru the bottom of the header panel into the bracket.

Once that's in place the headlights can slide in and out on the main bar. The individual headlight pivot bars have elongated openings to allow a ton of adjustment.
These are the individual pivot bars

I have a guide in the mail from Roger. I have searched the WSM for adjustment process on the headlights relative to the opening as I assume they should fit in the opening with specific clearances. Once I get the guide to lock the lateral travel of the entire tube down I will try and adjust individual headlights.
