Michael --

If the gasket on there now is original, now's a better time than any other to change it. My first time through a motor-mount replacement (15 years or so ago) the original gasket looked great. I put in new Porsche mounts and had no issues with them. They had drooped about 10mm when, last spring, there was a dime-sized plot of out on the belly pan after winter hibernation. So the pre-hibernation project last fall included a new original-style pan gasket to stop the seepage. Plus a couple new motor mounts. They were easy on the way in and out for the gasket. For you: think about all teh fun you are having now with biggest part the job. Now think about how much fun it might be to do it again is a few years, since you skimped on doing the gasket now.

Disclaimer: I am usually the king of doing everything WYAIT, doing prophylactic work to save the suffering later. I deviated from my normal methods, and ended up under the car again as punishment. At this point it isn't a tough job, especially with the lift and no hurry.

Thanks for the insight Dr Bob. You are probably totally correct. I have the gasket so I should probably do this now.

Michael, what kind of grease is that on your sway bar bushings? I believe oil based will degrade the rubber. Use a silicone based grease.
