What is this and should it be sticking up this high?

push it forward or it will leave a mark in the hood, its an air sample tube from the end of the EX manifold.
NOTE they usually rust out at the connection to the cap nut.
NOTE best to remove the nut, pull out the hose then fit a ball bearing into the cap nut then screw it on

You'll want to remove the tube. Preserve it if you can. The fitting at the bottom is a nut similar to a compression fitting. 14mm threads IIRC. Once the tube is removed, you'll need to plug the exhaust leak. Easiest way is to fit a ball bearing in place of the sleeve on the tube, and put the nut back on snugly with some anti-seize.

Ok, so I just did mine, the easiest way is to remove the fitting from the exhaust, mine was broken right at the bend going into the exhaust,so I removed the fitting went to Oriellys gave fitting to clerk told him I need a short driain plug the same thread, purchased 2 one for each tube some red lock tight and she's nice quiet, should only take you a few minutes per side. Good luck on a difficulty level a 1.
