That really is a "beginning" shot.

What is the plan? Paint type? How far down? Simple Respray or down to the metal? Any mods?

Looks like a good start. Did my 1990 a couple years back. Dropped it off the end of April and got it back in September. You will find sanding dust for months after you get it back but it will be so worth it.

The idea is, depending on who is doing the work, that there is a procedure implemented so there is little to no sanding dust on the end product. Masking and taping are an art form for some.

What materials? Normal etch primers need something extra for aluminum. If it's not some of the newer epoxy products then the aluminum gets an alodine bath and rinse.

How are they dealing with holes?

Plug welding IIRC, but the Ferraris and 911s are making a new friend there.

Pretty impressive! Only 2 months since the process began, also impressive! Guessing real estate costs in the valley there make extended storage a major cost component for paint and body shops. Keep us updated on progress please.

Awesome! Can't wait to see the final product! Can you tell us what the approx cost is for the down-to-the-metal paint job?

Was this a drop-off and they do everything or did you remove as much as you can before them taking over?

Taking notes....My next project.

whats the significance of the green markings in the first picture?

You have a reference for rear quarter window removal and other trim bits?

You will find yourself becoming VERY overprotective with your car after a shiny new paint job.
