my 82 is STILL not running....in fact, it’s worse now than before I fixed it....it turns over, fires, and stops abruptly....just ordered a noid light set....frustrating...
I may not have driven her in 5 weeks but progress nonetheless. Local guy did a fantastic repair job. Looks better in person than in the pics.
Looks like I will have to pull the passenger now so they match, lol.
I shot this last night. Have been struggling with a surging idle. Once it gets out of warm up mode this is what I get. It can be driven just fine but make me nervous at stop lights.
So the picture below apparently shows the culprit. I had a used part on hand to exchange. It is held on by 2 allen head screws, one of which was completely stripped .
It also has an electrical connector that was not obvious to me from the picture. Since the head was stripped I settled for some serious Deoxit treatment for both side of the electrical connector and re torquing the hose clamps coming and going.
The surging idle has now disappeared. Perhaps unrelated to anything in this thread but the battery was on it's last leg and was replaced yesterday. I took her for a 60 mile round trip last night with several stops along the way and she ran like a champ again.

You can test for power by taking off the air box, unplug the connector, turn on the ignition, and test for 12v between the connector pins. It is located on the right side of the engine.
If you have replaced your fuel pump relay recently however it may be that you have developed a simple vacuum leak, not that finding it is always simple
That is a seriously funky optical effect on the wheels of the moving car.
The slots towards the front are longer, the ones towards the back are shorter.
